I don't think 10.2 is available for Verizon yet, and I'm not sure about a leak or hack.
The 10.2 leak has a Verizon version. I am running it on a Verizon Z 10. It's not a hack.

    Oh and welcome to Crackberry.

Battery life for me seems to be 6-10 hrs based on my particular usage. The first thing I bought was the battery charger bundle and frankly it's been a godsend. I've been in numerous situations where my iPhone wielding friends have run out of juice at about the same time as me (yesterday, I was in France all day) and I've just popped the cover and put a fresh battery in. They just had to wear it. Best accessory ever.

Spend 20 bucks for a battery pack. Well worth it. I use my Z for GPS and streaming and always have battery available.

I think you will be fine with the battery life but at the same time look up the threads and blogs on CB about battery saving tips and tricks.

Also as others have recommended get the 10.2 leak. I know you're knew to BlackBerry and leaks are probably something you never had to do with your Apple but it's so worth it. It improves the functionality of the phone immeasurably.

Not to mention the financial crisis of BB. The Z phone is now relegated to the "specialty crowd" and those with multiple phones. BB will very likely need to sell/restructure without 10+mm sold by end of September (almost impossible from every indication to date) and not as projected, late 2013/early 2014. .... Imagine, marketing a phone that doesn't work out-of-the-box but works much better if you download an unapproved ("leaked") OS that is required to make the original, "revolutionary" OS functional. (Now there's a product and marketing plan designed to turn a company around.) The boat has left the port on the Z, BB is focusing almost exclusively on the Q's and that means a restructure is nearer than even I projected. ... I still smell something with this original OP.... Notwithstanding, I don't think we do anyone any good, least of all BB, by recommending the Z for its battery under any circumstances and especially admitting that we need an "aftermarket" (or is it "before-market") installation immediately upon purchase in order to make a non-supported OS function. Do we think that this is going to entice 15-20mm new (or even total) buyers by year's end .... or are we left with 5-8mm that want to fiddle with a backup phone and face new ownership in 2014.

... YES, a note of possible sarcasm, if not disdain, for those that represent loyal BB users that patiently awaited a promised revolutionary (or, at least, state of the art) product that couldn't replace the reliability for simple functions on many legacy BB's, let alone match the IPhone or Samsung (or HTC running Droid or W8).

Ladies and gentlemen, if it always was, it is now an irreversible very uphill battle for BB (as we know it) survival. We do no one any good by pushing features that simply don't exist (and its too late to get a share push through product hype, that will only come in near term through rumors of takeover/sale) ... except, perhaps, to twiddle in mental gymnastics on CB.
