I just bought a new BlackBerry z10 5 days ago. Battery life was great until this morning. I just charged it to 100% and 30 minutes later, it's at 58%. I don't know what happened, it was never exposed to anything that could harm the battery or anything, i've done two battery pulls, and charged it twice to 100% today. It's getting ridiculous... any solutions?

The same happened to me for some reason I constantly had to keep charging it aswell the first time I got it but over time the battery life started to drastically improve and the software updates helped a lot aswell

Open Device Monitor and see what the two tabs, Battery and CPU, are showing. If you want you can post screen shots of both those tabs. Take a screen shot by pressing both Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time. The picture will be stored in the Camera folder in internal memory.

About a week ago, my z10 was suddenly running hot and battery was going down very fast. No idea what it was but I restarted (see below) and it solved it.

Also, it has been recommended NOT to do a battery pull. Rather

    Try a restart:

Press and HOLD both Vol Up/Down buttons. Keep holding while the screen goes fully black (ignore the screenshot), keep holding through the Black/White logo and when the Colored Logo shows up, release those buttons.

If you have the STL100-1 variant the volume button reset method doesn't work. In that case, Press and HOLD the Power On Button until you see the LOGO as above

I tried resetting via your instructions, no change. It's at 0% and had been for a while, but the flashing low battery LED indicates maybe 70% charge...

Can you show us a screen shot of your device monitor? Which OS are you running?

Do you have any access to another battery?
If it does the same thing, then that rules out a bad battery at least.
Device monitor to try and find a culprit. Are you consuming data you have not noticed?
    Cloud services, wifi backup. Facebook?
    Post some screen shots

I hate hearing people having BlackBerry troubles. Don't like it can color a personal opinion about a Brand.
I have been fortunate. I've beat the crap out of my z10. Not on purpose, of course, but I work in construction.
It's been a fantastic phone. I've crossed over to the Dark side and bought my first BlackBerry phone this year. I'm staying on board.I Love the OS!

Quite confusing. Anyway, what OS are you into? As far as I know, the last OS (10.2.1.2941) has a serious bug that can lead your battery to dangerously low levels. Upgrade to the latest OS. If your phone is overheating, turn it OFF first and let it cool down.

Easy, drop down brightness, and give it a few days if you did an update. one the software adapts it will not drain you battery so much.

If you're using CB10, while on Reply, hold the space bar to minimize the keyboard, then tap Attach Picture.

It seems like Display is eating the most power. Turn your brightness down. I normally set mine on the default 50% and only set it to maximum when watching movies. Also upgrade now to the latest OS, 10.2.1.3247.

Will do, though it looks as if it's sorting itself out now. The monitor finally recognized it as a real 24% rather than a full charge.

Your device monitor still doesnt look right. Your battery time remaining is shocking.

Back up your phone using the latest BlackBerry link. Then use link to update your phone to the latest software release, it should be 10.2.1.2941 or higher. After a day or so hard reset your phone by pressing VOL UP and DOWN buttons for a few seconds until the screen goes blank and restarts itself.

Im am almost 100 percent sure this will sort out your problems. Let us know if you have done it.

Disable "swipe to wake" in the display settings. This helps a lot.

Some active frames can drain the battery checking for notifications. I think this was happening to me with Deezer (I still have to confirm if disabling them in the application settings has fixed it).

Do you use Android apps? Have you tried a hard reboot (holding down the power / lock button until the phone shuts down then turn it ON). By the way, the volume button trick does not work on your device since you're using an STL100-1.
