anyone think this device is saveable or should i get a new one back to using my q5 for now
I did the same thing, and acted the same way yours did after leaving it 3 days in rice. After that, I placed it back into a vac sealed container with rice.
Try to let it set a while longer in rice with battery out and in there too.
In this case of phone dunking, I highly recommend not cooking the rice or pasta afterwards.
On a side note, I have a bag of silica stuff I got for a dehumidifier in the camping section at Canadian Tire, would this work for drying electronics too?

It should work better than rice because each pellet is capable of absorbing something like 30 times it's size in water. Not sure what the absorption rate if rice is though. I used to work there.
now it is like proper dead if i plug it into a computer the led lights up for one second then turns off guessing i need a new one now wish i insured it now with a battery in and a normal charger nothing RIP z10 lol

Silica/ desiccant is best if available, uncooked regular rice is a good alternative.
The methods that you used might work for a few months but the phone will still have residue in between the peripherals and contacts on the circuit board. Follow the steps on the website below and your phone will have a bigger chance to work properly. I have fixed many phones using this method. http://voices.yahoo.com/how-fix-wet-...e-5515777.html
Just trying to humor. I very much doubt there is much to be done for a drowned phone, but stand to be corrected
I'm so fond of my Z10, I won't go near a toilet with it.
I would dissemble then soak the mobo in above 70% isopropyl alcohol for 30-60 minutes, place mobo in a plastic container with silica packets in a refrigerator for 48 hours, remove heat gun everything, and reassemble.
I don't have children so it's safe for me to leave silica packets around in my fridge. If you have children don't leave the packets where they can get to it (especially the refrigerator).
The worse thing you could do is put the battery in and power up too soon. It's a good idea to leave it in rice at least one day. My girlfriend is notorious for phones in the washer toilet bath. Unfortunately I have a lot of experience in this.
