Or squeals. I just noticed it today that when the screen is off and it's idle I get a high pitch squealing. It's lower pitch than what people usually report as inductor whine from electronics but it's squeals and clicks. Kind of a scary sound to be coming from my phone. Only hear i t when the back of my phone is resting on my ear. I don't think it indicates a problem but it intrigued me.

    Thoughts?

Well, you could call your carrier and ask for support..

My question is, why are you holding the back of your phone to your ear?

I have the same problem. When I set my phone on standby I hear a clicking sound from the speaker. It last for 10 minutes I guess.

If you want to test this problem. Push the power button to go on standby and bring the bottom speaker really close to your ear and wait for 10 sec.

Tried to remove filters battery yet? (clean the inside, blow away all the dust and filth and then put it back inside) and also keep the jack plug output and the speaker on top of the screen as clean as it can be.

Tried it three times and mine didn't make any sound at all. Mines a Verizon Z10.

To be honest there is no reason to hold up the back to your ear. I was just curious if it was just mine or common. It doesn't affect usability in any way. Damn restarts came back but I think it might have to do with running leaks... So I can hardly blame BlackBerry for that.

And if anyone knew what component inside was making the noise the curious side of me wouldn't mind knowing.
