Hi there I'm using an Stl-001 with os 10.2 installed with an unlocked runtime. I've been getting massive system cpu usage, like up to 60-70%. This burns insane amounts of battery and keeps creating insane numbers of duplicates of my contacts. It's gotten to the point where I have like 15 duplicates of the same contact and more gets made every time the system reindexing is complete. I've attached some screen shots of the problem. Do any if you guys out there have this same problem?

I found out that Skype was to blame. Kept syncing my contacts. Eventually found in the settings of the Skype app, that contact syn sync was turned on.. turned that off and signed out from Skype as I rarely use it. No issues since then!

    So check Skype

    That shouldn't be a problem.
You think you're ready to install a leak on your phone? See if that helps...

It's possible. You try turning it off and see if it helps.
If you have more then one account sync'd maybe you could turn them off one at a time. And see if you can narrow down it down

FB or any other social media?
Does your device sync wirelessly with Link?

Have you restored your device from a previous backup?
You might need a wipe and a fresh start.
If you do decide to do that, download FireChest and use it to backup your device

I've turned off link, I had synching wirelessly. I've been having problems restoring from my back ups via BlackBerry Link, it keeps giving me some error, same with synching I get some uni code error. I think the backups are corrupted which might be why I can restore my phone from it but that's just a guess. Unfortunately the problem had gotten much worse, high cpu usage the whole day, it's never done this before

I think it's time to either do a wipe and restore, see if that helps, or install a leak and see what that does.
If your backups are invalid, try using a third party backup tool, someone in this thread has suggested FireChest for that...

Make sure the only contacts come from your email accounts. Turn off contacts from Facebook and everything else in the settings menu.

Do a backup of your contacts to Firechest, then do a security wipe. Don't restore apps and such, reload those fresh. Do restore your contacts from Firechest after you make sure that your settings for all possible contact sources are set to off on your phone.

Maybe a stupid question, but have you tried performing a battery pull after you changed all the settings with turning off e.g. syncing services?

    Don't battery pull!!!!

You could try holding down the power button until you see the BlackBerry logo come up.

If that still doesn't help I would suggest a wipe.
    Backup with FireChest first.
After the wipe see the state of your device. If all well then add your accounts and you can restore the data from FireChest

Why don't perform a battery pull?

Worked for me, after having the issues for 3 days straight...

BB10 is not the same as legacy OS.
It's been unadvisable since day one.
Unless you have an STL100-1, you hold down the volume rockers at the same time until you see this BlackBerry logo come up on screen. This forces your phone to reboot and should have the same effect. Same through the power button.
If you have the STL100-1 the only way is via power button

STOP doing backups from older os's. Old programming screws up the newer os's. Reload os, start fresh. Let phone settle for an hour or so. Then add apps.
