I was in a friend's car and decided to use his dual usb port car charger. I plug in my phone and my z10 instantly shuts off. The car charger also dies and I am left with a bricked phone... Immediately after the phone shuts down I took out the battery and the phone smelled like something FRIED. I assumed it was the battery that fried and ordered a new one. I thought it was the battery because when I plugged it into a charger WITHOUT the battery the LED turns on for about 15 seconds and is solid red. The new battery did not make a difference.

Please help me!

Sounds like it actually did fry something.

That's going to be a "warranty" return and the only charger that "you" own is, of course, the one shipped with the BlackBerry.

I would just keep quiet about the in car charger and accept your replacement phone.

That same thing happened to me. I took it back to AT&T and they swapped it out for a new one under warranty. I lost a lot of data but I got a new phone.
