Wow! Sorry for the loss, OP. Good reminder for us all. That does it. I am going to a plastic surgeon and having a skin pocket built for my Z10. And will train the Z10 to administer a resounding shock on command.
    now that's some idea there!

I really don't think they look like iPhones at all. It's the white ones that get people mainly.

The only Z10 in NYC and now its stolen. Bummer
Well it shouldn't be hard to spot then. Just look for someone doing something productive with the phone and not playing games. ;-)

that happened to me once with an old samsung tocco feature touch phone, i had a thin wrist strap and was reading the metro (newspaper) with my phone loosely in my hand on the outside tables infront of a cafe, a teenager walked out of the door with a friend and snatched it as he went taking my arm with it. As soon as he realised hed half dragged me out my chair with it he dropped it and ran, must have thought i had an iron grip lol. does the z10 have a wrist strap hole? might be an easier alternative for the future if you hate typing in passwords like i do (mines wifi based now but its still a pain lol)

Nope, it is built in to the ActiveSync feature in Exchange (Which BES10 actually uses) thankfully.
OK I see it as a feature of Exchange 2013. Good info.

I don't know, I live out here in Vancouver and I don't ever leave my phone out on the table if I'm inside or outside. This baby stays in my pocket safe and sound haha

Four z10 robberies all on the same day, what are the odds of that happening?
    Pretty short.

iPhone grabs have been news in NYC for a while. Sorry to hear about your loss. I know I'm an old guy for admitting this, but I have a travel iPhone 4 that I could lose and not care.

I would have chased after them Captain America style and gotten my device back.
& you probably would've gotten shot for your trouble, or beat down by his 5 friends around the corner...

I had my playbook stolen before. Thieves just steal whatever is convenient. Sucks for the OP though. Hopefully you have credit card insurance that covers it.

BlackBerry Protect is legit. Even though you have to leave location services on, its well worth it, if you lose it.

With blackberry protect and if you have a strong password. You should be able to retrieve the phone assuming you left the mobile connection on.

They probably thought it was an iPhone.
Or perhaps it looked like a high-end smartphone. Do you think thieves looking for a quick score are only stealing one brand?

I was having a meeting in NYC at a restaurant with outdoor seating; thieves ran by and stole my white Z10. Plates flew off the table and smashed on the floor as they grabbed my Z10, it was awkwardly dramatic... Is this Z10 is a super-hot commodity that everyone wants ?

Do you think they thought it was an I Phone?
well if its password protected and you have enabled Blackberry Protect, shouldn't be too big a deal to find it perhaps.

I wouldn't run after someone if they stole a phone. I'd rather just practice safe phone skills to prevent theft, because these criminals might take a knife out on you. Your life is more precious than a phone, so be careful next time instead of instinctively and reactively pursuing or trying to intercept a criminal.

Don't worry, most of the posters claiming they would do it, aren't that stupid in real-life! Just full of internety-testosterone! I've confronted all sorts in my lifetime, and been in some pretty bad situations....to do it over a phone....anyone who would suggest that, needs a good dose of reality...I hope they don't get it the hard way.

None of you are Captain America, or the Hulk, and people who even say things like that, are going to discover a very ugly and brutal reality if they run into serious criminals!

Totally agree. Many months ago I even remember reading an article which I think was posted on Crackberry's blogs about a teenager in Africa or Asia who got his BlackBerry stolen and ran after the guys, only to end up being stabbed to death. Sad story, but a reality.
