BlackBerry brand cases have magnets to interact with sensors in the phone.. this is the phone itself being magnetic... only thing I figure is the speaker..

I am partial to the sleeper magnet theory myself as something in the phone has to react to the magnet on the case.

Still a fun way to go around stealling pennys.

Penny's have been removed from circulation in canada and they're copper. They don't stick to magnets.

It's funny you use that example, I have already attached my Z to a broomstick in anticipation of this EXACT situation.

I used to get dimes stuck to my 9780 all the time. It was only at the top of the phone where the speaker is. In this case the Z10 has the loud speaker on the bottom. It also works with the sides of the PlayBook as well.

Canada's pennies have been copper plated steel since 1999 so they are magnetic.

And actually no, not all pennies are/were magnetic.
No one is wrong here. Some are, some aren't. Depends on when it was minted.

All speakers have magnets in them. It's how they work. The speaker phone speaker is in that location.

I don't even live in Canada and I know the Canadian pennies are magnetic. Used to use them in magic tricks as dimes lol!

Not every penny in canada is magnetic. Although most are, there are many years, and parts of years where they are not.
This is well documented amongst coin collectors.
