I'm sure this happens often, and there could be several explanations. Someone asked me if my white z10 was the "New Sony Xperia" I said "Nope, blackberry z10".

I have never seen a Sony phone but I would imagine people would be familiar enough with the z10 by now to at least consider that someone's unidentified phone could be the z10.

Sony is making phones now? Last I bought from them was a ps2 in 2001...

I had a few friends ask me if it was the iphone 5 even though its the le red edition. Is it just me or do you guys also think that apple and htc copied blackberry's design when the early blackberry 10 phone prototype was leaked. Cause the iphone 5, htc one, and the z10 look extremely similar, the separation of screen and bezel is the same on z10 and htc one. The iphone 5 moved that design to the back cover.

yeah me too! that's why i bought the mighty CB crunk case and i'm waiting for that. i'll put that on my Z10 so everyone will know that my phone is a BB, it's not an i5!

I swear HTC copied the z10 design then added their own thing. I get the "Is that an IPhone" line all the time. It is shaped similar so I guess to the untrained eye yeah it would probably look the same especially at a distance.

Actually come to think of it NONE of the Xperia lineup looks like the Z10
Xperia:
X1, S, Arc, Neo, SL, S Pro, nadda ... none of them.

I know two ladies with older blackberries and their reaction was the same as most people that notice I have a new phone... "oh really?? I didn't know BlackBerry had a phone like That". These folks do not live under rocks. How do they not know?!

I get "Is that an iPhone 5?" quite a bit. Like people are still excited about the iPhone 5, haha. In my mind, they look nothing a like. However I probably pay attention to phones way too much. I do think HTC did copy the design of the Z10 with the One. I will give it to them though, its a nice copy. Aluminum unibody, front facing speakers, IR port. I can't do android though, and still love the design of the Z10.

Some people are just insensitive to the product they don't really care that much. I have overheard once that a guy was talking to his buddy, mistaking an Aston Martin Vantage for a Chrysler Crossfire.. I mean.. Really? Wow ok.
But then again, I realized that I will also make a mistake recognizing something that I don't really care about.. say I might failed to recognize a pair of new Gucci shoes.. and mistakenly recognize it as a "lowly brand" dress shoes for instance. That, i am sure, will flip a shoe afficionado.. " *Gasp* Guess shoes!! are you blind???". So I guess mistaken identity is very common to some extent, tho i'd say z10 looks nothing like an iPhone, so many differences.. It does looks like HTC One though...
