Hi,

Is anybody else missing the setting to encrypt the device or is this showing for all you other z10 owners? It should be available as below:


Open your settings by swiping down from the top of the homescreen.
Touch Settings
Touch Security & Privacy
Touch Encryption.
Scroll down to enable ON the Media Card Encryption.

Mine is missing the encryption setting when I go into Security and Privacy that should be under the Sim Card setting as below:

Application Permissions
Device Password
Sim card
ENCRYPTION
Parental controls
Diagnostics
Security wipe
Certificates
Development mode.

Same here. No Encryption section.

Seems to be missing.. its in the HELP application suggesting it should be there.

However, on my device at least this setting appears to be enabled since taking the memory card out and trying to use it elsewhere is a no no

I am guessing but I would think encryption and therefore the encryption setting would only happen if you have BES or BIS running.

I have 1 handset connected to the Enterprise.. no option and one that is not, also no option.

Hmmm.. I saw it on my device the other day but uhhh.. you're right.. it's now no longer there.. Weird. Gonna dig into this more.

I am glad that it isnt just me then, as somebody on the official Blackberrys forum does seem to have it but then his phone seems to be working a little better than mine as my word substitution also isnt working in my text messaging area either although ok elsewhere.

If not on BIS there would be no encryption. There is no more BIS.

Do you think that maybe people have different software builds depending on carrier etc? Mine's 10.0.9.348

Hi, mine is 10.0.9.2372 are you in the uk, do you have the encryption option? The person on the other forum had the same version as me though and still had the option.

Yes I'm in the UK....no encryption option.

No BIS means no encryption? No there has to be another way....BB's are all about security. Can someone clarify..??

I don't think it relates to BIS. It may be fixed in a pre-10.1 OS update.

No encryption option under settings/security and privacy in my z10 device either. It is strange to hold a blackberry and not have encryption security that I have come to rely on for so many years now. Since many are reporting that it is there, so is it a case of different softwares versions? Makes no sense as blackberry without security and encryption is unthinkable, at least for me.

The phone didn't ship with encryption.
.9.2372 doesn't have it.
The leaks do, so do the updates from carriers.
