I mean, Instagram works on BlackBerry 10 as a port. So why doesn't it exist? Instagram won't allow it.

Doubt it. They haven't stopped any of the Windows Phone 8 ones except for that one incident they attributed to their spam system.

Agreed. BlackBerry promoting an unofficial app which "reverse-engineers" Instagram's proprietary network transactions may not end well.

Wouldn't the sideload just be an older "official" version? And don't sideloads of really old versions not work due to being shut down? (I don't sideload).

I hope whatever it is the end result is positive. Don't want to hear anymore negative stuff. I can't see why Instagram wouldn't allow this 3rd party app. Like it's been said above, you can port the Instagram app already so what's the big deal. If that so happens to be the case, someone needs to slap some Instagram people upside the head.

Situation is kinda different
WhatsApp said they weren't coming to the platform. OpenWhatsApp came into existence. WhatsApp decided to come on board despite their earlier announcement. WhatsApp asks to remove OpenWhatsApp.

It was a rather sad situation to see though

Side loading isn't exactly an advertised thing. It's for developers.

Point being, it's not in BlackBerry World. It could be. It would work... But it isn't. It's all red tape. That's how they've "blocked" us, if you will.

Sorry … I don't count this as PR! Clewley has been quoted as ALREADY IN TALKS with Instagram, if you're correct about the PR move and response (CrackBerry post to which you're referring to) then the article on the main page about Instagram is VERY false and misleading! Something I highly doubt Simon Sage would want to be associated and involved in.

Also this just shows 1 of two things of which has NOTHING to do with Clewley other than an official BB representative with a few more followers than any of us making it known that a developer was bringing Instragram to BB10 natively and thus making the developers and decision makers there look like asshats!

1) a cease and disiss move by Instagram to iGram developer may occur. This in NO WAY guarantees or means that Instagram is coming to BB10 so we just need to cool our jets and await what will happen.

2) Instagram has reached out to Clewley to reach the iGram developer and wants to work out a deal ($$) to the developer as a one time payment to create, test, and submit all code to the app, maybe even bring him onto the team for a few months for early development and update guidance to their existing team. We're all hoping that THIS is what is going on … moreover I'm MORE interested if this all comes to play that BlackBerry will be able to USE these events as a major highlight!! This alone is MORE powerful to budding, existing and future potential major developers or developers of any stage to come on board!!
