I just switch encryption on for my media card, and noticed I can no longer use usb mass storage mode, as it's greyed out. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case on my 9300. Is this normal for the Z10?

As far as I know it's normal, USB mass storage mode is kind of pointless if you encrypted the contents. You can't view any of the files outside of the device and most would assume you want all the contents stored there to stay/be encrypted so putting something on there that's not encrypted is slightly out of the norm/purpose defeating. I may be wrong though, it's not something I've dived into much to know.

I have that too. Don't remember it being like that before the update.

It's kind of strange that in usb mass storage mode that it won't encrypt and decrypt on the fly. I'm pretty sure it does that in wifi mode. Oh well. Going to turn off encryption now.

I had encryption on, but when I wanted to update os I unencrypted it cause it states to do as you will not be able to read afterwards.

So now I leave it unencrypted not much on it anyways so no point.

Yes usb mass storage mode will be greyed out cause of the security of the encryption does not allow anything but the device its on to view the files.

That's very unfortunate. I understand the reason behind it though. I'm currently decrypting my media card. I'll store important files on the device instead. I need usb mass storage mode for listening to music in my truck.

What OS are you running. This limitation seems to only have started with the 10.1 official release.

Ah okay. I'm running 1720, which was the official release from my carrier. Maybe they fixed it. I can live without my media card being encrypted for now. I'm going to put any important documents on the Z10 for now.

In my case, with OS 10.0 or 10.1 (10.1.0.273), everything is the same and it still works well. All my files are encrypted and are acessibles via the USB on my PC.

If I remove the SD card from the phone, the files are unreadable.
