Hi guys,

Mapmyindia has launched software and maps for BlackBerry Z10 India but it is not usable on devices not purchased from unauthorised resellers. I had purchased unlocked stl100-2 from the gray market so not from an authorized store. I downloaded it from the app world but it is not running and giving error saying not authorizes to run on ur device. Any ideas how I can use it.

Personally I think they should allow on any handset because even if I am using an unlocked handset it is still from BlackBerry and the revenue return of which will still go to BlackBerry. It's not as if the unauthorized reseller has stolen the device from BlackBerry and is selling for 100% profit.

Yes.. right now I am in USA on a trip and the app doesn't even show in search results.. I dot a blackberry world link for this app on a website and it says that the application is not available for your device..

The same one I installed, maybe u r in the US so that's why it is not installing. Probably once u come back to India it will install.

Bought my Z10 in india.. Mapmyindia works fine. I presume they have put in some kind of a check with the device serial numbers (only allowing serial numbers meant for india).. Buying devices from grey market or outside india, will not have a match with the serial number of the India models..

But i am not sure, why it will not work. One of my friend is using an unlocked UK Z10 in India and his Appworld, shows Mapmyindia as a paid app.

I think the Mapmyindia app is locked to the model stl100-1 as that is the one launched in india. Mine is STL100-2. I just checked and it is still a free app in the Indian BlackBerry world and download able. Not paid.

actually BB is Paying MapMyIndia For each license as BB Maps are not working in India. So only Phone with Indian Warranty would able to use that app. It's working fine on z10.

Checked with Mireo and they will be adding India maps for 7 day free trial next week. Difference between standard and premium is on the premium maps have house level maps for major cities while the standard maps are street level.

I talked to MapMyIndia guys, the download is based on your IMEI number. If its not India it wont download.

had a similar prob. all of a sudden mapmyindia dissappeared from the store on 10.1. restored a backup taken 15 days back n now i have it back!!!! can u believe it :P
