I have chronicled the death of the Z10 that I gave my dad for Christmas on this forum. Search for "Bricked Z10" in the Z10 forum and you will find the details. I have a Z30 I am using so I gave my dad, my Z10 so that he does not suffer the ignominy of being without his beloved BB. So, anybody want to take stab at resurrecting Lazarus? I would certainly appreciate having it back as a spare so if you want a challenge, shoot me a PM or email me directly at kurtafehling"at"yahoo.com.

    Thanks.

I actually have a plan to do it, and was going to do it to my girlfriends if t mobile and BlackBerry won't warranty it.

Pin:24C85C5C would be an easy way to get a hold of me, since I can't PM from cb10.

And for what it's worth, I suspect GPU, memory, or CPU detachment, in that order. My plan is to put it in a bench vice, liquid flux the entire board, heat it up with a heat gun, let it cool, and reassemble.

I sincerely anticipate this working, and if I don't get yours, I'm going to try to fix my girlfriends and write the tutorial.

    What?

    http://home.howstuffworks.com/reflow...h-heat-gun.htm

This breaks down how to do a heat gun solder reflow. I've had a lot of luck bringing 360's back from the dead. I intend on getting a z10 done one way or the other.

That's why I'd like to take some pictures and experiment with it, and see if I can't get it back to life.

I could do people on cb a great justice by repairing their phones.

    Slff,

Tried your method several different ways: Both with the battery in and out and still nothing. As for Rade's suggestion, it sounds potentially destructive. While I am not ruling it out, let's see if anyone else has something to offer before we try yours.

    Thanks to both of you.

Z10 is one of the easiest phones to fix. Ifixit gave it 8/10 repairabilty score. The problem is finding the parts you need. My brother in law fried his z10. Yes. I didn't believe him either. So I thought I'd take it and see what I could do. It would not power up. No matter what. I tried everything. So I realized the only way to repair this was to get a new motherboard. There's the problem. Finding a replacement board is almost impossible. Only one site I found was a place in the UK selling for 159 euros. Way too much. I'd rather just buy a new one. So I searched on ebay and saw a guy selling his for $10 cracked screen and said it was stepped on but still powered up. So I bought that. Received it a few days later and swapped motherboards. Boom. It worked. Only problem was this was not my original z10 from Rogers anymore. It was a z10 from AT&T. So I unlocked it and the rest is history. I couldn't believe I could do it either. Thing is looking for another one is almost impossible. I've tried.

Not a bad idea. I will check ebay and other sites to see what I can find.
