Do you have any side loaded apps? That doesn't seem right.

Go to Settings and privacy permissions, check your apps. One of them might have access to location and gps. Probably four square.

I had installed poynt the other day and since then my phone has been randomly rebooting and even when I did a battery pull the location icon was there before I opened any apps. I just deleted poynt and the location seems to have gone away for now. Hopefully this will fix my rebooting issues as well

Happened to me a couple of times. Gps and blackberry travel did it to me. Simple reboot solved the issue.

This is happening to me right now. The location icon will not disappear. Has to be some app that we downloaded recently.

I also have not side loaded and have restarted and battery pulled. Is it poynt?
Posted via CB10
Yes it is Defford poynt

I can confirm the I deleted poynt and rebooted and my issues are gone.

Sad, but it does seem that Poynt is causing this. Rather disappointed with that, and thus it doesn't help the battery...
It was def poynt that was causing the location icon to stay there. I deleted it and it hasn't come back since
And??? Did you get a good shot????

I had the same issue the other day. After removing, re-installing and configuring the "units" option Poynt is now working correctly. After closing Poynt, the icon should go away about 1 or 2 minutes after. Give this a try if you still want Poynt -it just might work for you too.
Threads like this are why I love CrackBerry.
FYI the latest Poynt update fixed this issue for me.

Beware some apps are data miners. Wish we had better control over things like this. Headless apps can't be any better.

Hey .Sometimes i have that issue too. Simply go to location services, turn it off. Close the window. Then go back to location services, turn it on.
It worked for me (instead of restarting the device, which solves the issue too)
Correction. No need to close the Location Services. Just open it, flick the button off and then on, then close it. Done.
Noticed if u open the calendar, create a new event and click on location, this keeps the icon on, even after closing the calendar app.

During the past couple of days I have also oberved Location Icon turning on an off on a quite regular basis without my interference with any programs. The only application that uses Location Service out of all I have recently installed is BeWeather Pro. Did anyone observe a similar behaviour and can confirm the cause and effect relationship?
Hey Mihal,
For me, it's Foursquare that does this. Most of the times, when i open foursquare, check it out, and then close it, the location icon is still on. Then i have to go turn off/on location services for it to go.
It maybe due to blackberry protect.

Same here with Foursquare, but I ever go to Settings, AppManager, Device Monitor, and Stop FoursQuare
Hey Jayjahed,
I'd love to blame Foursquare, but this is not the case, since I am not evening using it (never started the Application). But the Icon shows up quite randomly. I do not even need to interfere with my phone. For example I unlock it and see the location icon being active. Sometimes it disappears right away, sometimes after a couple of minutes. There is even no need to turn off/on the location services. Magic.
Never mind... I tried testing FourSquare and location was always on. And the minute I made my post here it turned off. Now it does not keep running in the background...
My problem with location services on foursquare is when I check foursquare notifications in the hub and then leave the hub the location services remain on. Resetting the hub fixes the problem.
Also a cool thing I have noticed with foursquare is when I minimize the app location services turns off.
