I lost all my locally stored Phone numbers and calendar appointments when I updated my phone. Apparently I wasn't syncing properly with my calendars (multiple!!) on the cloud. I don't know what happened to my contacts, because after the update all my contacts in Google contacts had their phone numbers erased too! Only phone contacts I had were those I ONLY synced with facebook....weird.

Anywho found out something cool. Got everyone to text me and the phone recognized "who" sent the text, but labelled each text as being from their number instead of their contact name. So I selected their contact name at the top of the text thread. This brought me to the contacts and I could select who the phone number belonged to (or add a new contact if the contact was only local and got deleted).

Long story short...I hope everyone else has their phone syncing properly, 'cause I was ready to go to my local Virgin Kiosk and make them take back my phone so I could switch to something else. Luckily my rage wore off when I found the (kind of) fix...

To play it safe. I would suggest backing up the phone before any updates. Or at least have a recent backup.

As for contacts. I suggest that the contacts are associated with an email capable of wireless sync. This way contacts would follow the email and any devices you would use that are capable.
