No there's a setting which allows the ringer on only when a phone call comes. Ie texts and emails and other notifications are silent. I'd like them to have an LED while being silent

It was a hassle but I just disabled what I didn't want in normal. I miss os7 settings/profiles

Yah it won't work grr. When I'm at work all I care about is calls and when I look I want to know if I have a text or not. Not just a black screen

There is an app called "BeBuzz". Love it. Let's you crate Disco light shows, at will, for any combination of alerts/notifications. Gives you control of sound notifications too.The app recommends you completely shut down the native notifications, which is OK, i guess.

This app, at the moment, also has to remain running in the backround for it to work. I had it on my 9780, and loved it. It's still as good as it was for the Z10, only it has to stay running.

I am sure they are working on a version that works without having to have it open all the time.

I dunno, but it SEEMS like there are several good apps that still haven't figured out how to work without being open and running all the time. Hopefully, they will get that figured out soon. I am not crazy about apps that you have to have open all the time, for various reasons.

Maybe an alternative for you... (???)

Blackberry hasn't released an SDK with the APIs for headless apps yet. Until they do, the devs can't do anything about it.

I don't buy that excuse, sorry. Some people, and app devs, are using that excuse for reasons why apps like theScore and Openwhatsapp can't get notifications without being open, yet Toronto Maple Leafs Mobile and WhatsApp can receive notifications while closed. So which is it???
