So earlier today I downloaded the latest version of Skype after I saw on Snap that it was available. But after I typed my username and password, the pop up came up saying that it was logging in. The thing is that it's been trying to log in for about 5 minutes. Anyone else having problems logging in with the latest update?

    Thanks for the great help!

But I think that people that just viewed the topic and didn't bother to reply offered more useful information.

Which version of Skype, and which OS are you running? I'm on 10.2.1.1925 running Skype 4.5.0.39600. No problems on my end.

Native is not broken, why try to fix it?

There is no native Skype app. The one in BlackBerry World is an older version of the android Skype app.

I deleted 4.6 and installed 4.5. Logged in and toggled the check mark so it would log me in when the app is opened. Updated Skype via Snap and now I don't have to login.

Mine automatically logs in too. Not sure what your issue with the the one from BlackBerry World is but let me know and maybe I'll check out a newer android version!

The Skype in the BlackBerry World is not a native version but it does work fine and they update it ever so often so my suggestion is as above..to stick with the BlackBerry World Skype

As if there was any doubt as to the contempt with which Skype holds BlackBerry BB10, this post made yesterday in the Skype forum announcing the withdrawal of the Skype client for Symbian has a rather obvious omission when it comes to the platforms Skype is actively developing for. Second best is the best BB10 is going to get...

    Nailed it :P
Uninstall it and install the one in the blackberry world.
It's been modified and optimized for bb10.
The one in snap is meant for androids and was not tested on bb10, so obviously you might face some issues.

That post is disappointing, but not surprising. It's a little funny too, symbian is Nokia, Microsoft is buying Nokia's phones business, time to hurt Symbian.

I am a bit optimistic after reading it. They say limitiations of Symbian is why they are dropping support. BB10 is a modern OS, so it has any feature Microsoft needs to keep supporting it.

A while ago I installed Skype from Snap thinking the Android version may be more smooth than the port in BBW. However it hung on the login screen for me also. So I stick to the one in BBW because although buggy it works.
