    It looks like the Kindle app requires you to be online (either wifi or otherwise) to use the reader. Is this true?

    Also, any recommendations of any other readers that would open a variety of formats?

    Only to download any new books. You can still read books downloaded to your phone whilst off-line no problem.

    I use mine all the time and it's great, especially the settings to change the way it looks,....i have a Kindle reader but the one with no back light so the phone works well for me

    I have mine set thus

    Thank you both.

    Great to hear. I think it was a link here that I found when searching that someone said you had to be connected to read. Didn't make sense.

    My wife and I both use the Kindle readers. Awesome as they are, I often don't have mine with me.
