Good grief, she sounds like she is just making it up as she goes. I'd want to definitely talk to a supervisor to see if they even know what crap she's telling people.
She's probably just a virgin and doesn't know what she's talking about. That's what you shouldve told her.
Quick question, what new handsets have been confirmed for this year? Apart from the low end Foxconn thing.
I'm about to take an upgrade I don't need and for 11 a month I could get a free z10 or a load of Android handsets, I'm leaning towards the desire 500 as it's eBay value makes it more attractive. But a replacement for the z10 may change the equation.
I'm using a moto G dual sim and won't return to a single sim phone so my interest is purely on the best sell on option.

You need to be a little more discerning with reps from carrier service employees. Most of them have only a high school education and are making close to minimum wage. My local Tmobile store employees are convinced that blackberry already filed for bankruptcy which is why they no longer carry the phones in the store.
When you call your local rep ask to talk to a second Teir 2 support or a second line manager. If you are persistent you will get to talk with someone of higher intelligence than a sponge.
As a paying customer of their service you should demand and get quality answers about the service and phones they support.
Good luck and don't take any wooden coins.

I was in the store yesterday. The iPhone 5S and Z30 are free on Bell.

I'd bet a ton of money that this ladies comments are completely false. At best, she misunderstood a recent conversation with a fictional character.

You can take my word. I can even go to the mall again, get a printout of the hardware and plans. The 5S and Z30 are free on a two year term. The plan with 2 GB's of data is $75.00 a month with Bell. I pay $64.00 a month and have 2 GB's of data per month, unlimited everything and $4.00 extra on top of the $60.00 silver plan for 25 additional voicemails.
In a nutshell, Virgin offers the best plans, but you pay for the hardware.
Bell, you get the hardware free, but to keep the plan price the same $64.00, you have to sacrifice 1 GB of data, you have no international texting (Virgin has unlimited international texting) and is pretty much limited to Canada.

Here's how it works in the world of marketing and sales.
The customer sales reps. that you first talk to, know only what they are told, which isn't much.
As soon as they say something that doesn't compute, such as the conversation shared by the OP,
simply, politely, ask to speak with a supervisor and you'll get a more educated response.

Well I don't know about all phones but the Q5 as not listed in us.Blackberry.com at all.
Because the Q5 was never released in the US.
Reminds me of that time i was an a-hole to a good spirited tmobile representative that tried to sway me to change my z10 for a galaxy 4. Most of the time these individuals have little to no information about the state of a company or the status of a device. They are simply qualified as sellers not at technical support and much less at public relations. It is truly simple people just wait for an official statement or press by the company and please disregard what comes out of these individuals as opinions not facts.
Like I mentioned in the first post, I do take your word for it. That's not the issue.
I wanted to pass this on to a BlackBerry employee so he can attempt to stop such B.S. It's his job to look into such things.
It's up to you. If you could just tell me the store and mall, I'd love to correct this behavior. Thanks

I am with Virgin Mobile, and their customer service reps often know nothing. So just don't worry about it. Next time you call, a different rep will likely tell you something entirely different.

The local Source store to me is the worst store I have been in. I went into the store here to get a screen protector for my Z10 and the salesman said its a waste of time, said I may as well just toss my Z10 into the garbage and buy a real phone. I looked at him and told him he was an ***** and wouldn't know a good phone if he seen one. I will never buy another thing from the source again.
I had a talk about upgrades too two days ago with T-Mobile UK and the kind lady told me that my upgrade date is Dec 2014 and round that time a new BlackBerry device is being released... I asked about the Z30, Q10 or the Q5, she goes a device other than that is being released on the network. I did ask if it was high end and she did say a 'literal yes' meaning she said "I can't actually tell you that, you just have to wait and see..".
BlackBerry cannot be pulling out of the market right now anyways as someone else on this forum actually made a really good explanation where BlackBerry devices are actually actually providing a small but measurable income to BB. Plus also rumours I've been hearing that the BlackBerry10 image will be revamped with an actual whole new name and other things too. The market right now is just speculating on their departure from the device scene because of the set backs, BB is doing better than Windows Phone according to most market research. I don't see them pulling out and saying they're leaving.
If you listen to the media but don't actually see the facts you'll notice that they keep saying BlackBerry is a dying company, if that was true I wouldn't be looking at a better share price + they actually still exist in 2014. Every manufacturer has a time when they're winning and one when they're losing. Its BB's time..... Just wait till they actually show what they're capable of!
This person clearly doesn't have any first hand info and is repeating something that a a stupid person told her.
BlackBerry aren't getting out of the handset business. John Chen has confirmed this multiple times. They are reducing the number of models they make so that they can go back to being a profitable company.
BBM for Android and iPhone have nothing to do with getting out of handsets. It's about increasing the number of users and getting people to see some of the real advantages of BlackBerry.
It is entirely possible that any carrier, such as Virgin, might phase out carrying or selling BlackBerry handsets. That's a different thing altogether. But even that is hard to believe.
BlackBerry are having a lot of problems bit they are still very much a going concern.

EE, The UK's largest network, told me back in October they were "end of lifing" the q10 and z10. Forget about z30. Only one they kept was the q5.
This should not a be a surprise to anybody.

The sooner BlackBerry allow direct sales the better in my opinion. When I first went looking for a Z10 I was told in Virgin UK store that they were not going to do it as they have had a poor experience with previous touch screen BlackBerry smartphones. I asked the sales rep if she had actually seen a Z10. No she said, this was just what she had been told. At the time I had been using a beta Z10 for over four months and actually had it with me. I gave the rep a quick demo and her comments were on the lines of "I really wouldn't have guessed it was a BlackBerry" she was amazed with how well it worked.
The problem in this instance is whoever was making the decision to stock certain phones is clearly not someone that does much research.
More recently I was trying to source a Z30 for someone in my organisation, speaking to our t-mobile rep I was told, no plans at the moment. General feeling is that they want to shift the Z10 devices as was told would be at least March before the Z30 would be on the list.
I spoke to someone in the business side of BlackBerry and mentioned this, the person was surprised as he said there is plenty of stock in the warehouses for them.
Having recently switched to a Z30 I find it really frustrating that it's not so easily available for business users... madness

I am with Virgin too (no complaints) however if I get a rep who either doesn't understand what I'm saying or I don't understand the rep, I just say I'll have to call back later. Then I phone again and usually get someone I can talk to. Or I go to one of the kiosks in the malls (Vancouver) and I've never had problems with those guys ever.
