When the SIM is locked, you can't. Besides, BB owners save contacts on the phone.

I thought the phone is locked, not the sim, if you mean by carrier, then yes, you need your phone to be unlocked or with the same carrier. But either way, my classmate didn't password lock her phone so it was easy for me, lol.

You found a Z10 in the wild? Quick! Play the lottery! The odds of even seeing one besides your own have to be astronomical.
    Lol

I have a 4-Digit Sim-lock. If s.o. inserts his sim (unlocked or 4-digit-locked), comes the device-pic-pasword then, if 5 times false, a 5-time device pw then wipe!

    Thanks everyone.

It has been a couple of days since it's been found and no calls. I think I will just return it to the carrier in hopes they will contact her/return it to her since I have no other choice.

Oh and I know it's a "her" because her wallpaper is her picture.. lol
Are you sure it is not his girlfriend's picture?

I've got an idea! Take a picture of the lock screen and give it to the FBI to run through their facial recognition software

No need to get the FBI involved, but you are onto something. The OP can use the google image search and possibly get a name that way.

Now we're cooking with gas and if that doesn't work, why not take the image viral? Instagram, twitter etc.. Do you know this person? Help reunite a person and their lost phone. Crop the image and don't identify what type of phone it is to keep the crackpots away.. "Send your contact info to xxxx@ gmail.com (I.e. a newly created email account) with another photo of the person in this image to prove you know the owner of the phone".

    IDEA - I brainstromed this:

    Make an emergency call!!!!
    It is possible without unlocking...
Excuse yourself, give your identity to show that you're honest, ask them politely to read the number you called from, then contact the carrier so that they contact the person on an other way, even per mail!!!

If I'd found the phone, I would have made it so!!

At least in the USA, that's against the law. not to mention a waste of resources when someone might actually have an emergency. Just taking it to a carrise store is the right choice.

This thread prompted me to go in and add in the wife's # for a "if found, please call ... " to the lock screen text. Awesome awesome feature.

The PIN is phone related... sadly they can only BBM with that pin on that precise phone!

funny I run BBM on bluestacks android emulator and am using my Z10 bbm id on there at the same time as on my phone.... they have lost their phone and possibly have gotten a replacement, they can sign into their bbm on the new one. with the BB ID. so if someone sends a message to the old pin, would they get an email or some kind of notification that a message had been sent?

When my sister lost her Z10, she tried to call it for a few days for the rest of the week. Then I saw her that weekend, gave her my Z10 and she went to Verizon to get a new sim for it. At that point there was no way to "call" her lost Z10 as her number had already been ported to the new SIM.

If the person couldn't be too long without her phone (for business, family, etc), they may not have had a choice but to go to their carrier and get something else up and running asap.

And tell them to give the password. If it works, then you know that it's really theirs
