I was pumped about my battery life at the start (former 4S user) and loving the z10. I still do. This recent Verizon update has absolutely destroyed my battery life. I don't get it.

Also, when I have my phone charging at night with the stock charger that came with it I get the alert to use the charger that came with it. Well z10, I am.

Something sounds amiss here. Perhaps a bad battery as well. How long have you had it.

CB explained it was supposed to do more than just that:

    Features of the update include:

Improved Battery Life: Over 60 battery-saving improvements have been made to keep you moving.
Photo Enhancements: The camera has been optimized for better photos in low-light situations.
And More: You’ll also enjoy fixes to Gmail® calendar, improved performance for 3rd party applications, and better browser video playback.

They copied and pasted what the update alert said. The update did nothing, at least for most people. Sure it's not something else that caused it?

Assume he's on VZW .9.422 like the rest of us...

There was no update, it was just re-installing the original update that you received upon opening the box. If you deleted bloatware, it reinstalled it, if you hadn't deleted anything, it would have said that your OS was up to date. The enhancements that were listed were the same enhancements that were listed when I got my first update for this release number during initial unboxing and setup of my Verizon Z10. Not sure what the issue is with your Z10, but it is highly unlikely that the update did this.

Can everyone stating that their battery life is terrible after the update do me a favor by
    1. deleting a pre-installed app such as Connect to Drop Box, Linked In, Foursquare, etc (unless you have already deleted a pre-installed app than this step is not necessary)
    2. Then go to Settings -> Software Updates -> Click check for updates and see if this update for 10.0.9.422 pops up again

My battery was crap before that 1mb update. When I deleted Bing, the update showed again.

I could just breathe on my phone and it drops 2%, lol. Still love my phone though!

Assume these are just the standard bad batteries on VZW, nothing to do with the update.

Try turning off the slide to unlock to begin with. That alone has added 4 or 5 hours to my battery life.

I have turned off the GESTURES on lock screen function. No avail.

I do agree that if you delete that bloatware it does try to reinstall it. I'm not negating that fact. Mine was a 5mb update, not just a 1mb.

My update was 1mb never deleted anything battery life before update was good and very similar before the update. The day I got the update my phone became crazy hot and lost half its battery life. Saw the update, installed it and I've still had some random reboots but battery life is good.

Yes but this was an update pushed to the phone, not manually checking...regardless of all my battery life is now A$$

I'm not an expert by any means just don't see anything being actually changed when the version number didn't change.
