I have used the "save to homescreen" when going to starbucks....the icon/launcher looks just like the starbucks logo....what exactly can you do with the app, that you cannot do with the mobile site through the browser? Not trying to be a smarta$$....really would like to know

Instagram, Netflix and Starbucks all have one thing in common - hipster culture.

What has been Apples bread and butter since 2004? Hipsters.

    You do the math.

I agree that development costs can certainly be an issue. But if there already exists a working port.. could they not do an official port cheaply, slap "BETA" on it, and then decide whether to update or support it based on usage? I mean, it can't possibly cost that much to port it, can it? (legitimate question, not sarcasm). I know there would be howls of "It's not NATIVE!" but wouldn't it be better than nothing?

EDIT: On the other hand, holding BB hostage for $ is also a very valid reason...
Your edit nailed it. That's what I think is going on.

I use Netflix almost every night in bed to help me go to sleep. I usually get about half way through Numb3rs or Mad Men and I'm zonked. Works great.
