    Whats good Crackberry Nation!!

Alright where do i start. i have a blackberry z10 model STL100-01 before i go off about whats wrong. i actually like this phone and its great BUT this thing is gone crazy. first my battery is saying 90% but cuts off after 70%, i got a turning device off message. so i do the normal blackberry user thing and battery pull leave out for a while and put back in but it still gives me trouble. i even have a extra battery i brought from amazon and and i swear last night it went from 0% to !00% in a few mins and then died even faster than that. other than my battery issue for some reason the service bar goes from good to no signal when i am in my house, now granted no service is guaranteed in your home but come on. i literally miss a lot of calls because of this issue, i had a android before and never had that problem. I just want a smooth experience so i can show off my blackberry to my friends.

i love blackberry and I'm glad they making a come back but to still have issues like this and i cant get the 10.3.1 upgrade. this is unacceptable and i am so close to getting a iPhone and call it a day. what do ya suggest change to a z10 model STL100-3. i really don't want a z30 its to big for my taste.

    Thanks for letting me vent!!

The STL100-01 is plagued with issues, sounds like you have the battery calibration one, if your network will work then try get a STL100-02, it's a hell of a lot more stable.

Well you could always try an OS reload through BlackBerry link, without restoring to see if it solves your problems

I respect your opinion of the Z30 Re: too big. That stopped me from buying one. BUT, the price on the Z30's was so good, I bought one!
Turns out the screen size isn't an issue!
In fact, I preferred it now, over the Z10. And the battery lasts a FULL day, with no issues! Cheers.
PS: ended up buying a 2nd Z30, for my daughter. She was using my Z10, until it hit the floor. She loves the Z30 now as well.

I have an STL100-3 and love it. I don't have any issues except my carrier hasn't released the latest OS version of the month. The 100-1 does have a lot of issues and if you dig deep enough in these forums, you will see that clearly. Now, that being said...can your carrier handle the STL100-3 or are you stuck with the 100-1? Really look into this. My carrier (Wind, AWS 1700Mhz and 2100 Mhz frequency) requires an unlocked 100-3 (and there are TWO variations of the 100-3). But I get absolutely perfect reception in my basement and home of my house (full 5 bars).

If that phone is causing grief battery wise, how can you be sure the battery is good and not faulty? I mean calibrating a faulty battery isn't going to do you much good. I see you have a second battery, which is good - perhaps try and calibrate with the new battery?

You also should consider wiping the phone and reloading the OS from scratch, controlling everything and not relying on someone else who may have corrupted things in the process.

Barring that, get rid of that phone if possible. Buy a better type. The 100-1 is the worst of the bunch. I wish you had the exact same type as mine because I love mine and it works great (even on the AWS frequency).

I will check it out but I am leaning towards getting a model 03 for the z10 and see how it goes.

God only knows how much I wish I read on the different models before getting the stl100-1. I been so frustrated with this thing I just sat and read through the forums and seen all the problems with this thing. It should be banded.

I am looking into the stl100-3 but I didn't know they had more versions of it. I have tmobile usa I belive it will work on that carrier.

I believe both batteries isn't good but I also think the os is bad as well with this model. I can't do nothing right now cause I am moving and all my stuff is packed away but most likely I will get a 3 model z10.

Are you really sure about not going up to a Z30? I had the same thoughts you have now when I had my Z10 but I took the leap. Never regretted that. The Z30 is that much better and not that big when it comes around.

I bought the z10 when it first came out directly from T Mobile USA. The model is stl100-3. So it is the one you want. I love the phone, no problems. Like others I couldn't pass up the great pricing on the z30 when it is on sale. So I bought a z30 from Shop Blackberry and love it. It works perfectly fine on T Mobile USA.

I like it so much that my z10 is just collecting dust. I thought it would be a good back up, but when Crackberry had the z30 on sale this week, I bought another one. Now I have a z30 backup too.

An unlocked STL100-3 will work on T-Mobile since they are AWS too I believe. Basically you need the phone to have the 1700 and 2100 Mhz frequencies (like I do with Wind). There are two variants of STL100-3, see here: BlackBerry Z10 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    RFK121LW: Quad band HSPA+ 1, 2, 4, 5/6 (850/1700/1900/2100 MHz)
    RFF91LW: Tri-band HSPA+ 1, 2, 5/6 (850/1900/2100 MHz)

Anyhow, when I unlocked my RFF91LW STL100-3 Z10 it worked no problem on WIND Mobile (which is an AWS carrier) and it will work on Bell, Rogers and Telus (I live in Canada obviously). It becomes a quad band phone so it works on everything. I believe they soft locked it for some reason and unlocking it turns it into quad-band.

If you get the same model as I have, and unlock it, it will work. If you can find either already unlocked then you're good too. Just make sure the IMEI is clean (not a blacklisted phone) or else you just bought a fancy MP3 player that can't make calls...It happened my first time (they took it back though and I got my $ back).

Anyhow, hang in there. I think the 100-1 phone you got was bunk. Hope you have better luck with the 100-3. I love mine. I think you will too.

Oh and you should PM Marksf941 to see if you can negotiate a sale with eachother...his Z10 is doing nothing but collecting dust, you want a Z10...see where I'm going with this?

    For TMO USA,

    Z10: STL100-3 (either one.)
    Q10: SQN100-5
    Q5: SQR100-1
    Z30: STA100-5
    Classic: SQC100-4
Passport: either one, but the AT&T one will need to be unlocked

Battery pulls are very, very rare.

I have not 'had' to do a battery pull in the 18 months I have had my Z10.

Battery pulls were one of the mainstays of OS7 phones and are just not necessary in general on BB10, with any other model other than the 100-1 you can use the up and down volume keys to do a reboot if the OS freezes.

I won't say it never happens but OS freezes are not normally a problem with the other models.

    Hope this helps.

There is one beautiful thing s out Z10 and this is cost of replacement. You can get Z10 dirty cheap on eBay. I have seen many for $100 or less. Iphone is way more expensive phone. Just recycle your old z10 and get newer model on eBay. Problem is solved

Before you dump the stl-oo1, will you be willing to try one more thing?

I have a white stl-001 on which I'm running 2558, it it works flawlessly, and I mean everything works.

I came from from 10.2.1 and I upgraded via autoloader. Difference is I did a SIC wipe before, and didn't restore.

    Result: perfect working phone.

Just giving u an alternative as the STL-001 may have been the black sheep, but it works just as good as any other Z10 model for me.

    Cheers.

The only truly new BlackBerry device is the Passport. Everything else is 2012 hardware level, including Z30 and the "new" Classic/Leap. If you don't like the size and shape of the Passport, go for a high-end Android device or iPhone 6. Don't buy obsolete discontinued BlackBerry devices just because there is nothing else available.

I like the Q5 better than the Z10 or the Z30. I do want to see someday how the Z10 runs with 10.2 but for now its on siesta indefinitely. I also find the Z30 too big for regular phone use.

Added:. The Q5 is really cheap, i paid $160 for a new one shipping included.

It's currently $80 in BestBuy Canada, Telus prepaid. $160 is a little too much for Q5.

The Z10 is a pretty old device. My advice to many people is after 2 years, you should look into changing your battery if you plan on keeping the device. The benefit you have with the Z10 is that you can buy the battery and replace it yourself.
