Im sure its not a bigdeal for others, but the z10 calculator doesn't have % function. I know its possible to download calculator apps on the blackberry world but. Nothing comes close to the old legacy calculator. Also i use the phone calculator with really serious math. So i dont want to just install any kind of calculator app that might have a bug and will compute wrong math.

Any one got an idea about q10 calculator?

This might sound weird but one of the reason im a fan of blackberry is the calculator Lol!

Turn it to landscape mode and it turns into more of a scientific calculator. You'll have the percent then.

This calculator is miles better than the 9900 one. Go to landscape and you get a scientific calculator, swipe down and you get unit conversion and a tip calculator. I can't count how many times I've used the unit converter now.

    No you won't.

Why do you need a percent button?

Percentage is calculated by dividing one figure by another and multiplying by 100, or whatever you are working with.

I have a scientific calculator and have never used a percent button or even heard of one.

The landscape scientific calculator doesnt have the percent function aswell. Im looking for the simple basic straight number and get the percent function. Similar to the old blackberry calculator.

I hope q10 will have it. Since keyboard format is the same. The i can use q10 as a main phone and z10 for media and back up phone

    Im not sure about others.

But i use percentage to compute quick discounts, profit margins, daily work calculation stuff.

Yeah you can compute percentage in other ways, but if you compute continuesly with percentage in the middle of computation, you cannot do the dividing and multiplying percent calculator. It will inturpt your computation.

You should get a scientific calculator man.. they are like 25-40 dollars. I can recommend a good one for you. Sharp or casino make really good ones. They have excellent memory functions and I'm sure you would be much more productive. Plus you would extend you battery. I'm an engineer I carry two sharp calculators around. Phone calculators are so gimmicky and unprofessional.

I love how ppl start to question why you need basic things like % on a calculator. It's simply an oversight by BBRY (one of many). Needs to be added at least to the landscape view. It's a new OS and growing fast so these things happen. Anyway, here's the .bar file

If you're really stuck, use the "Tip" calculator that comes standard with the Z10.

There is this great new retina function and real brain power tool that is exclusive to smart people. It's called looking at the number and then moving the decimal over 2 places.

Unless you're extremely worried about significant digits on very small percentage calculations, in which case you should be using a dedicated scientific calculator, not a smart phone.

    Yeah.. smart guy huh...

Well im not smart plus very LAZY to think

Seriously, if people prefer to carry around calculators to math, its their choice. But i prefer to just to use my smartphone for basic quick calculation which includes % computation. Its also how i want to compute AT MY OWN CONVENIENCE besides why would smartphone include calculators if in the first place every body prefer to carry a calculator in their pocket.

I feel like i committed a crime or something. Haha

No really. If I put 8/17 into my phone 's calculator and get the result of .4705, why do I need to press a % button to realize that it's 47.05%? It's a glorified shortcut for pressing "=" then "*100".

I literally move the decimal two places. If anything, it takes longer and robs the calculator of a potentially functional and useful button.

But if you compute like. 20x35.5+10%/2-3% x2. You really cannot compute that way man. If you compute at a single computation yours will work. But if your computing in a continues way like me i really cannot think of an easier way. Im not really a math wizard.

First off, that function needs some parentheses in order for you to get a predictable answer.

Second, +10% is equal to *1.1, and -3% is equal to *.97. So no, you don't need a % button.

Lastly, the ability to recall previous calculations in the native app obviates the need for the percent key, since you can just run the function one step at a time and refer back to your previous answers.
