    Here we go again!
Well, short-long story.. Legacy devices used something called BIS with compressed most data (emails, browsing, etc.), which is no longer available for BB10 devices.

Your Z10 now consumes the same data any other smartphone would (except the legacy BBs).

Considering I've come from android and ios and never had this much usage... I'm not downing the phone I absolutely love my z10, and I'm fully aware of the BIS stuff, just wondering what makes it eat up so much data..

800 Mb on a blackberry is also huge. With android or iphone you multiply it with 5.

    4g doesn't affect data consumption.

    Z10? Why yes it is.

Wouldn't it only affect the speed at which you download things. Which may, cause you to download more things causing more data consumption but not 4G? or are we talking LTE (stupid carrier branding) either way the same would idea would stand? Wouldn't it?

Lots to be fair and a lot are side loads.. use Instagram Flipboard Facebook and Twitter more than anything else with the exception of bbm because that's still affected by BIS? But the rest are just games and little utilities

Lol no worries I know what you meant, my Internet is faster therefore I can download more stuff hehe that's also true bro, but 4g itself doesn't cause more data consumption as the OP is thinking.

    Z10? Why yes it is.

4G does affect data consumption, although not directly. With the increase in speed, you are more likely to do things that were too slow at 3g.

Think about those "I'm bored, what's on you tube? " also most data rich pages didn't even render on older devices. Now if you aren't careful you may go to a page that auto plays embedded videos. And you may not notice it if your volume is down.

Yeah. Plus BB needed to sell their phone to the Phone companies and to do so they probably needed to can bis and make their phones use lots of data. Lots of data means bigger contract plans making the companies more money. If they kept bis the phone companies probably wouldn't have accepted and marketed them. Even if the us marketing did suck. Or I only think it's a conspiracy...

All I can say is I'm glad I upped my data package when I bought my Z10.

I currently consume 5x the data I used to. That said, I surf a lot more and use many more apps than I used to also. Figured I would.

Are you using yahoo mail? I have read in local forum that someone is using yahoo and there is a stuck e-mail the phone is trying to send, failed, and resend, failed, again and again until your data is used up. He deleted yahoo mail account and problem solved. He said he never had the same issues using gmail.
Also make sure send diagnostic data to off..

Stop downloading then as it appears you used more data cause you did so, so correct it by never downloading again.

    Hi everyone,
Just a quick tip, you can now check your daily, weekly, monthly and unlimited data usage by running the Data Usage Counter app

    Available at the BlackBerry World

    Thanks

I'd start by getting rid of your side loaded apps
