I arrange the icons i'm using more on the bottom. In that way it is easier to reach them with the thumb. The highest row is difficult to reach for me. (small Hands, glove size 8)
The most useful apps are in the lower position, like iOS dock.
I have this system on each screen.
The first screen is for the important things.
