I'm having a weird issue with WiFi at work that is confusing me. My Z10 appears to connect to the WiFi but it keeps telling me that I need to login to the hotspot, even though it's not a hotspot. Is there a way to tell the phone that it doesn't need to do this with this particular WiFi network? Thanks

Well... you could uncheck your hotspot notification?

I have this unselected but it still happens. I'll restart WiFi and see if that makes a difference.

    No difference after a restart.

It's more of a security feature and smart way to keep too many traffickers in the same network. It's keeping users in check.

No, sorry but that doesn't make any sense.

It doesn't happen on my home WiFi.

My guess is that when the phone connects to the WiFi, it attempts to connect to an external site. If the connect fails, it assumes it's connecting to a hotspot and prompts me to login. I have to assume that the corporate firewall is blocking whatever site the phone is trying to access. Does anyone know what it's trying to connect to?

You're not on T-Mo usa are you? There was this specific issue revolving around wifi-calling for a while.

The wifi at work is not connecting properly. Turn off your mobile network to run strictly off of wifi to see if this is the case.

I tried this and I still see the same error, so it's definitely WiFi related, not data plan. Cheers.

Free WiFi connections (malls, airports, hotels, restaurants etc) usually require you to login after the WiFi connection is established. You can't access the internet through their hotspot until you've logged in and accepter their terms of service. So this is expected. You may have the same problem as me at work - do you access the internet at work through a corporate firewall?

It does sound like there is an extra step needed which is missing for the wifi connection to be complete.

I hate those pop up messages (one for each hub account) everytime I get a wifi connection, but not logged in. I wish there is a simple button to cancel all (or apply to all) when they start to appear.

I don't think there is a step missing in this case - I think the phone is incorrectly identifying a WiFi connection as a hotspot that requires a login. But you're right - I hate these messages too. A necessary evil as you usually have to accept terms of use before you can access the internet through the hotspot. Thank the lawyers.

Well, I never had to check in before and this just started last week Thursday. I thought it would fix it by changing to leak OS 10.3.1

It will be keep on coming. You can install an android app ( search wifi) by which it directly connects to the specified network.

When I experience this at work, it is usually because someone has jacked with the wifi settings. Normally, deleting the wifi connection and then setting it up again will correct it. I don't remember if I reboot the phone as one of the steps.
