The OP needs to "locate and print a series of texts" nothing was said regarding presentation. And imo using Excel to bring text to the larger screen of a computer doesn't present any readability issues. In fact, given Excel's zoom function, could you perhaps provide a superior alternative?

A better solution has been given using Copy Chat which can copy multiple messages to an email. XML was designed as a markup language and anyone suggesting the OP should have to contend with all its markup tags in a printout is being ridiculous.

I've done it myself with no issues. Also, the best system I ever had for this was an app on OS's 5-7 that simply sent a copy of the text automatically just after sending or receiving it to one of my email addresses. What do you mean by a markup language? As I said, I've achieved a list of all texts on Excel with no issues. One would think that if this "markup language" were to present problems, I would have encountered them.
And what the hell is a markup tag? I've never heard of it. I had to contend with nothing when I did it. Save backup to SD card, transfer to computer any way you like, double click on it and you have your list. That's what I did and it was that simple. I think anyone who manufactures issues in order to use uncommon terms as a way of trying to display more intelligence/superiority is ridiculous and utterly puerile.
However, apparently SMS Backup Manager saves to CSV (Comma Separated Values), not XML, which is essentially just a text file but one which Excel understands.

Many thanks for the clarification. I just tend to go with what works And base comments on that. I think I got XML confused with CSV. That explains why I had no problem. In my defence, I'm in the UK and have been up since 4 with a virus so I'm gonna be cranky as hell. If I'm rude This morning then I'm s****. Nope, I tried but I couldn't actually say it.
