    I had pb and 9810 using about 100meg a month. 15 days with z10 and I have used 1024megs.

Unlimited data is so worth it on a phone that just screams media consumption.

Maybe as I still have BIS. That would however not explain why it took 1 month to spring into action...
(moved from bold to Z10 and i am still on my old contract)

Around 500mb per month (less than 100mb per month on bis)

On my BlackBerry Bold I used 640MB in November, then 375MB in December (holiday break included) and once again around 640MB in January.

With the Z10 I used 940MB in the first month and now just over half way into my second month I have used 260MB.

Now my first month with the Z10 had some excessive data usage days when I was downloading files from my server but overall also shows higher usage every day.
Now in March, into my second month, my day to day usage had also dropped a bit.

And just by the way I was and still am on a 1GB plan. Never used all of it...

With my Z10, I have been using just under 1GB per month average. If I include my Playbook working with the WiFi link to the Z10, I have gotten up to the 2GB range. I am on my devices for about 2 to 4 hours per day average for my work and personal use. If you were to have a 3GB data plan for the phone and tablet together you would be very safe and not have to worry about data usage. This is without many hours of streaming videos. If you are to start streaming videos for a few hours per day the usage will go up.

I'm connected to wifi at home and work, yet for the first month of having the Z10 I only used 165MB of data. Surely to be using GB's of data a month, people must never be connecting to wifi anywhere...?!

I don't think the Z10 is a data hog, I think the experience on bb10 and the browser is so quick and enjoyable, you forget you're on a mobile device.

Not sure what plans are available to you but I have a 1 gb plan that goes up to 2gb for $5+ if I go over my initial 1gb

I have no idea how much data I use on wifi, glad I got an unlimited data plan for when I'm out of wifi range - really need some way of monitoring data use, especially if BB10 is aimed at business users.

Does the Z10 use wifi when connected to wifi or still used the data plan?

@ Kings. This is a very good question actually. What I have found is that on the first week of use my phone consumed great gobs of data while it was showing that I was connected to wifi. Subsequently I began turning data off whenever I was connected to wifi for extended periods and what I found is that in the event that you lose your wifi connection (let's face it, it happens occasionally), your phone will likely switch immediately to mobile network if your data is on, and you will be hard pressed to notice that this has happened because LTE is so fast. The only way that I have found to be SURE that I am using wifi is to simply turn data off.

And you're still able to receive SMS and calls when your data is turned off and only on Wifi?...

You don't need data switched on to use voice and sms, they go through the non-data connection.

The Z10 uses wifi when connected to it, otherwise it uses data.
When on a wifi connection, you can switch off data to save battery life.

@theonecid. Yes. I just turn data off, but mobile network stays on and data runs through wifi connection. I'll probably stop turning off data now as I haven't lost a wifi connection since that early glitch a few weeks ago.

Well I have 6GB data plan with Rogers. The highest i have gone with the Z10 is about 2.5 -3GB. When i am home, i use WiFi but leave LTE turned on. I never turn off mobile networks or anything while on WiFI. Mind you all my settings are the same LTE & WiFi. I use more internet on LTE then i do when i am connected via WiFi

Ohh my bad I misunderstood. Ok so you leave mobile network on but disable data. Makes sense now, I thought you disabled mobile network all together.

If I am at home or my office where WiFi is available, wouldn't I be using my laptop or desktop anyway? I have a mobile smartphone to use when I can not get access to a "real" computer.
I've crunched the numbers and was sure that going off the unlimited plan was the way to go. Now I'm having second thoughts.

Ok, here's the post I made a few days ago:
    "Plan A) buy phone out right: 599 + [110/mo (full "grandfathered" unlimited) X 24 month contract] = $3239/24 = $134.96
    -OR-
    Plan B) subsidized phone at: $199+$30(fee) + [100 (2GB data) X 24 month contract] = $2629/24 = $109.54

The difference being $25.42 per month. So even if you go over the 2GB by 1GB and are charged the $15 fee, it would still be less than staying on the "unlimited" plan. "

I don't know why I'm still on the fence over this. For some reason, I don't want to give up my "unlimited" plan.
