I restarted my phone by holding the top button until the red light came on. I started a stopwatch as soon as I saw the word BlackBerry. I stopped the clock when i got to the home screen.

    5:34

Anyone else have quicker times? What's the real reason boot times are so long for the BlackBerry?

Mine is much faster, maybe a minute or less?
I read somewhere it does a security check on startup (techies will correct me i am sure).

The other thing and I am sure this makes a difference is I don't have loads of crap on my phone or side loaded updates etc, and by crap I mean l have no games and no android apps, only used " built for BlackBerry " apps if it's not sold in Blackberry world I don't use it...its not that I am such huge fan boy, it's that the two times I have downloaded an android app from amazon or whatever I have been inundated with ads, and I hate that. I also have no side loaded OS only ever used official OTA updates. + this was a carrier purchased phone, meaning it's an stl-100-1 as opposed to imported ones 2,3,4

    Regards David

Mine takes about 1 minute 45 seconds.

It's pretty much been like that since the day I got it almost two years now.

The only time it takes longer is the first boot after a fresh OS install.

1:40 and I had to unlock the device to get there. The boot time for me is ***fine***.

I just tested a theory and it seems to be what mostly slows down my boot up. Iíve always had sim card lock pin on my BlackBerry phones. I turned this security feature off and rebooted my phone and it took 1:58. I guess I can't complain now since it's my choice to have that feature on. But i've noticed with the shorter boot time, the hub takes a bit longer to load completely.

Why is the boot time always on "28 Jan 2015.02:04:03 GMT +08:00" not the current date and time of boot time? Any explanation for this?

    BTW, I'm using Z10 STL100-1.
