OK so I did a security wipe, on my Z10, I got this shredder come up on the screen.
    I suppose it's "shredding "files.
Now, I know I had a lot of junk on the phone, but it's been "shredding " for a good part of some 4~6 hours.
Is this normal?, I panicked and removed the battery and reinstalled it, it just starts up and start shredding again.
Is this normal, what should I do?
In this mode, BlackBerry Link won't even "see" the Z10.
    Suggestions are welcome.

I would just leave it. It can take a good hour. 4-6 hours sounds a little crazy, but just leave for a while then come back and check.

Plug it into a charger too! (Not a PC, just a wall charger.)

Just leave it be, it does take plenty of time. Always ask or research before doing something you are uncertain of, that's what we're here for. You could've ended with a brick.

    Cheers.

I performed a security wipe the other day when i switched from z10 to a Z30. The z10 was near full and it did take about an hour. But 4-6hrs? hmm idk. If it started wiping again after you inserted the battery, Id say give it time and let it finish.

Just wiped two Z10's at my place of work. Panicked on the first one as it was coming up to 3+ hours and now looking at reinstalling the OS. Second one took a little over three and a half hours and now its back to the out of box screen ready for use.

    Should have waited....

Does it normally take this long?

All right guys, seems the most logical thing to do (and the consensus seems solid here) .
I have plugged it into a wall charger and I'm just going to let it be.
I know I had a lot of stuff on there, and I mean a lot, as in almost full of crap.
The only reason I'm doing this is because I got a Z30 and I couldn't transfer everything, but I still have to pass this phone on to someone else, but I need to clear it first of course.
I will report later with what happened.
    Thanks guys

    OK update here.
So it finally stopped, but when I try and boot it up I get a screen with "www.bberror.com/bb10-0015"
I've never seen this one and I have a feeling it's not a good sign
    Again, all advice is welcome

If you plug it in, do you get a "Reload device software" option on link?

You have to reload the OS via BlackBerry Link. Takes a while but it reloads it without any issue.

I know your problem is fixed. But for others benefit. My Q10 security wipe took about 4 hours. Recommend anyone doing this to wait! Do not panic and pull the battery! Do it overnight if you are worried about time!
