It is "Black and white" most time, white charachters on dark display... The display is not illuminated and so economising battery power... Dark theme is the main reason I bought the Q10 and not the Z10 (besides the fact that I owned a Bold9900 before)

I don't know that it's in the latest leak, but the how is that BB is baking it into future OSs. I would suggest searching the leak forum for info on if there is a dark theme in a usable build for your device.

My z10 looks gorgeous in black theme.

I have 10.2.0.1725 on my Z10 so I'm hoping that things have not changed, If you have 10.2 OS

HUB: click on the 3 dots - bottom right More > Settings > Text Messages and you'll see Visual Theme light, change to dark. Then you have to shut down or reboot the Hub for it to take effect.

CALENDAR: pull down the top to get the menu, and click on Settings > General > Visual Theme bright change to dark. Then you have to shut down calendar and restart.

BBM: pull down the top to get the menu, and click on Settings > at the bottom of the menu Visual Theme light change to dark. Then you have to shut down BBM and restart.

Not sure, but I think the Q10 has an overall dark theme. The latest OS 10.2 leak for the Z10 has a dark theme option for just certain parts, and need to be turned on in each particular app.

I.E., in the contact app, pull down from the top, and hit "Settings". Light/dark theme options is the first item. Someone else already described how to change it for calendar, BBM and SMS.

At the moment, that's all that can get the dark theme. Unlike the Q10 which has it throughout the OS like the Hub and all the settings pages every where.

You could try unzipping the OS and sideloading the SMS/Calendar/ETC no guarantee it will work though, but I think it might.

The dark theme on my contacts automatically resets back to the light theme.. so I go to settings on my contact and change the theme settings to dark and I close the app. when I open the app again it has reset to the light theme. The BBM, text and calendar seems to be working fine...any ideas why?

Uh, no.

That was 6 months ago and things have changed since then. BB realized that a lot of people liked the look of the dark theme, and they have since added it to certain apps within the OS and we now have it in the last few 10.2 leaks. Check the threads and see the screen shots yourself. In fact, just look up a few posts and see the calendar in dark from an obvious Z10 screen.

It may not help the Z10 with LCD screens, but it still looks cool. And it's not system wide like it is on the Q - settings screens are still white and not changeable (yet...).

What? No. Are you trying to claim that an LCD is incapable of displaying black/dark colours?

It was a design choice, I have written apps that display just fine in the dark theme on the Z10, and I'm glad they are putting the choice in the user's hands in 10.2.
