Hi.
Since Z10 is horribly cheap in UK now (179� for phone off contract in Amazon and CarphoneWarehouse) I just wonder, what are the differences between:
STL100-1 and Z10 STL100-2/3/4? new leak (1055) works on 100-1 only. will it work on stl100-2/3/4?
How can I chose (if i can) which version to buy, what are the differences?

P.S. Z10 has NFC. does it have a wireless charging?

Hello and welcome. The model of the Z depends on the service you will be using it on. Yes it has NFC. You have to choose a carrier and then youi will get the Z for that one

Hi,

The 100-1 doesn't have 4G, and uses a slower omap processor, but a slightly faster gpu.

100-2,3,4 all use the snapdragon s4 chips et, but have slightly different radio frequencies (eg. 1800/1900/2100 etc). These three all support 4G (lte) networks.

Look at http://www.bbin.in/en/2013/03/03/4-t...s-fits-better/ for some details. Make sure you choose the phone whose frequencies match your service provider.

I'm on oz, and have an stl-100-2. I believe the UK also uses -2, but don't quote me

ok, thanks. so actually, if I want bette rphone, in general, I should look at 2-4.

are there ANY marks or visual details which would say: yep, this is 100-1 and this one - 100-4?

I use Vodafone at the moment.


As far I understand, if I want the best compatibility with my Vodafone, i need 100-2 model.

If I buy it, how can I check - which model I am buying?
I plan to byu from Amazon (RIM) or CarphoneWarehouse...

The new 1055 leak would work on the STL100-2/3/4 if the person would have posted the radio portion of the OS. He did not post it out of spite. Looking at the thread there is over 3000 comments and most of them are drama. You will need the STL100-2 where you are.

Then question: can i determine, which STL100 is it, or from Amazon, or RIM will send me the right device?

RIM will send you the right device if you order direct from them because you have to select your carrier. I assume you are looking at amazon.co.uk when I go there and search blackberry z10 I looked at the first result being blackberry z10 UK Sim Free Smartphone sold by RIM. Looking up the production number on amazon (PRD-49737-018) it appears to be an stl100-2. You should be ok to buy that one.

Oh and no the Z10 does not have wireless charging. Only the Z30 has it.

There is NO radio that works with 1055. You have anger issues...different department altogether...

i have had own the STL100-2 but i have started studying in the U.S. can i change my radio chip of flash my firmware to that of a STL100-3. i really cant buy a new one. thats just weird

To answer your question...No that is not possible. But the STL100-2 will work in the US on AT&T and T-Mobile you just won't get LTE speeds. You will get AT&T 3G in some areas.
