Can you copy and paste the number to dialer?
Frank, I think pinevn wants to dial a number that is IN the text message, not the sender.
You remember how older BB underlined any numbers in messages, let you call, sms, mms, etc? I hope that's still available on BB10.

Sorry mate, now I get it.
Just tested it, the number appears in bold and blue, tapping it calls it and holding brings up the overflow with the call option, along with some other options.

But sadly, you can't paste anything in the dialer.

Well if it is there, there is no reason to paste it to dialer. You know what I miss the most, being able to "SEND NUMBER" while on a call..
Do you remember those days? You could call 555-1234 and then when it asks you "enter your destination" or "enter your pin #" you could actually copy something from an e-mail or pick a contact and say "send numbers" instead of actually dialing it would send it into the existing call..

Now, I am using extensions to replace above function but it means every time I have to call, I need to edit the contact & extensions.
Does BB offer "wait" or "dial in 3 seconds, 5 seconds, etc.." with extensions now?

Oh, on my ancient Ericsson phone I could save numbers as phone cards! Just remembered that, I could save the number and when I picked a contact I had an option.. "Call" and "Call using.."

I have to agree with you, a lot of functionality has been lost from BB7.. hopefully it will come in future updates!

Can you please try adding x then extension? so 833..... x 234.
And save and try calling them, see if it asks you "send extension" or if it automatically does after few seconds?

I see there is "Wait" and "Pause" on keyboard, my guess is one adds X and other adds comma "," or "p". In some devices that's how it was in the past.
The problem I have is, out of 1000+ contacts half of them has extensions set with x (Outlook). So I really hope BB still offers the option that they did in the past in Smart Dialing.

Is there Smart Dialing in options?
"To access office extension.." Wait for : My Response, etc.. etc.. etc..

Well, this is all I've got :
    http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartp...4135413442.jsp
Short long story, swipe down from the phone app.

However, I can't find such feature on my phone. Must be carrier dependant.
How can I call a phone number in SMS?-img_00000055.png

Now, here's what I've gathered from testing: phone number: 5551234567
    Ext: 1234

I had someone sent me a text with their work number like this: 5551234567x1234, I called straight from the text message and the phone interpreted it like this, paused for 3 seconds and then dialed the ext.
How can I call a phone number in SMS?-img_00000060.png
It didn't pick the extension if there were spaces between the number, the X and the ext, though. I saved the number with spaces on my contacts list and it didn't work either.

I dialed the same number, but now using the pause button in the dialer (which is kind of hidden, you have to hold * and then it switches to P) like this: 5551234567p1234 and it worked like it's supposed to, it's an X replacement. I think the pause was a little bit longer, though. 5 seconds as opposed to 3 using X.
This also works straight from the contacts list, but doesn't with spaces and sometimes fails if you include a # at the end .
If you need to have a # at the end, including a pause before it makes it work every time.

Now, for the W, it just gives you the choice to dial or skip the ext, like this:
How can I call a phone number in SMS?-img_00000056.png
Again, it doesn't work with spaces and works straight from the address book.

    Edit:
Oh, and W is on the dialer if you hold #, too.

    Hope this helps.

This means all extensions in my contacts will have default 3 seconds to call the extension.. that's going to be tough, sometimes I have to wait a few seconds for the recording to start so I can dial an extension.. It will now prematurely dial the extension.

You can add more time to the pause. I believe each pause(p) is 2 seconds long so add another p or a third depending on your delay.

    Example: 555-555-5555ppp1234
Basically dial 555-555-555, pause for 6 seconds and Input 1234.

    Hope that helps.

Exactly, but he'd have to replace every X on his address book for Ps.

if you add postal code in front of the phone number (in message) then you can call this number, but in the local, you can call the number without postal code and it's problem with z10. BB with OS 6 and 7 can call local number in message, but z10 can't be.

I think you need to set your phone correctly for dialing rules.
I don't know where they are in BB10, but in my 9700, 0912522115 is not highlighted as a usable number (text/call/mms)
When I type 2125550000 or 12125550000 it works, but when I type 1212555000 (missing last 0) it does not get highlighted/underlined. Basically it knows what is phone a number and what is not. Is the number you posted above is a valid number?

By the way in old BB you do not have to send the text for number to be higlighted. As I type the number I can see it working. It also works with international numbers as well.

Yes it's a valid number, you can call 84912522115 to contact with me, if you come my country, buy a sim card you can call 0912522115. This's format of cell phone number in my country. In my BlackBerry 9800 I can call this number in a message.

If I ever make it there, I will give you a call, then.
Obviously this is a formatting issue, dialing rules/location/locale. How about calling without the 0?
    84912522115 (Long Distance)
    0912522115 (Local?)
Shouldn't it be 912522115? What happens when you dial this number?
In USA the proper formatting is 1-212-555-0000, but when I call using 212-555-0000 BB recognizes based on the number count (9 digit) and still connects me.

I don't understand why it has 0 in front of a cell phone number, but you can't call without 0 (912522115).

Every time, you see that menu with just the icons, drag that bottom empty strip or click it, and it will expand. Also, if you just put your finger on the screen and move it over each of the icons without letting go, they pop up and tell you what each one does, like this:
