You can't hide icons. I loved this feature when I had my BBOS 7 because there were some unnecessary apps I didn't want to use. Now we have unlimited space and we can pack them in one folder and put at the end of the page. You can delete apps directly from home screen just like playbook, you dont need BBLink to do that.

In desktop manager you are able to delete apps that we installed by blackberry or the carriers. We have lost so much with BB10.

I would reckon BlackBerry World will allow you to uninstall at least some of the apps pre-loaded by BlackBerry. That's the way it works on my PlayBook. Can't comment on carrier apps however, I'm lucky enough to be on a carrier that doesn't pre-load any bloatware.

I don't think there will be any bloatware on BB10. That came from carrier pushed service books via BIS on earlier models, which doesn't exist on BB10.

AFAIK the carriers will be left completely out of the loop regarding OS updates, as these will come directly from BlackBerry/RIM.

Maybe a developer will create an app to hide folders and icons, or maybe it will be part of a future operating system release. Seems there are a lot of us who use that feature.

When I delete apps that came on the phone, twitter foursquare, linkedin, newstand, there's a shadow of its old icon, is there any way to remove it completely? I already made a junk folder to hide things I dont use or cant delete but it is full already.

I haven't done it, but have you tired removing them with the playbook extension for Chrome?
