When I insert the headphone line into the z10 the speakers sputter for a few seconds and then the sound continues from the phone speakers. I bought the phone on the first day it was availed in Canada who do I contact?

The vendor who sold you the phone should be able to handle a warranty exchange. Usually the carrier, unless you went to a 3rd Party store like Bestbuy or Future Shops

I think mine has the same problem. I thought it might be the headphones, but they have worked fine on other devices since.

It's probably the headphone port. You can try to fix it by jiggling the port with the head phone jack, lightly and carefully.

If it still doesn't work, get it replaced.

I had this problem in the beginning as well. Do you have an SD card inserted? If so - remove it and put it back in. For some reason that did the trick for me. I also believe it had something to do with trying to out in the headphones several times before it really 'broke in'. Good luck!

some of my headphones work fine on other devices, but with the z10 i have to push it fully in, then ease it slightly out to a certain point before they work.
fully in and the Z10 just doesnt want to know.

I found some headphones do that. Maybe the z10 jack is just a little more sensitive to variations in the headphone plug.

    1) make sure you push the jack all the way in so you hear a nice firm click.

    2) try a second set of earphones and find out if they work

I ended up using a pair from my Lumia that works fine, but my BlackBerry earphones from my bold don't work right.
