    What not punch in Google in the browser and then save to the homescreen?
    Press the overflow button when in the browser.

    I use universal search to search then click on the Google icon in the block at the bottom in the extend search area.

    Yes, open the browser then hit the three dots to bring up sub menu. Once in the browser menu select Display and Actions. Set the options On Start Up - Show My Home Page
    Home Page - Open on a Specific Page
    Current Page - type in www.google.com

    To change the browser default to Google, start a search, tap the top right Bing icon, and then you can change the browser.

    It still searches with Bing even after setting the home page to Google.
