On my beloved 9900 I always used 2g by default until I needed more speed.

When I was done I put it back to 2g.
I did this because on 3g my phone did max 1 working day when I was lucky.

On 2g I could have it for 2/3 days.

With my z10 stl100-2 I don't have that option anymore..

I tried 2 countries with 2 different simcards (each one belongs to one of the countries) no difference.

I used an other -2 z10, no different.

Software, mine is running 10.2.0.93 and the other one 10.1.0.273

Also with the original 10.0 software there was no 2g only or 2g & 3g.

I really want 2g as preferent and not 3g or higher

This is easy to do on the Z10.
go into Settings, Network settings, and then Mobile network.
There is a pull-down menu of sorts in there - set it to 2G only.

It might be your carrier doing it to you. If your phone is unlocked try another competing SIM.
2G is roughly GSM speeds. 3G was HSPA and 4G was the marketing name for HSPA+. They didn't dare go to "5G" when LTE came out but BlackBerry supports two major speeds on LTE networks (the Q10 is the most versatile in that regard although the Z10 is super fast in any case)

I apologise that I did not fully read your OP. Clearly you've tried all that I would have tried.
It may be the radio file - some others have had good success with .341 or so...

I think I've seen that 2G even on the Verizon phone when looking at the settings on the demo models. I was looking to see if you could change the setting to turn off LTE when you don't need it.

I recall three different mobile network settings before you drop down further into the G options.

    GSM/UMTS
    Global
    LTE/CDMA

Which setting are you on to get the 2G option?

My phone is originally unlocked without splash logo or anything

Give me my 2g only or 2g &3g modes back-img_00000277.png

But I have this with every version I tried, my gf have Vodafone and she don't have 2g either, also unlocked phone.

When she insert prepaid simcard or any other simcard she still get 3g and higher.

I have the problem, kinda strange

I know about the low speeds that's why I want 2g.
It saved a lot of battery on my 9900.

    Gsm/utms I can't set... that's 2g

I'm pretty sure that's carrier related.
My phone is always connected to the H network but I don't even have it as an option in my mobile settings yet I have 2g and 3G.
    I'm on OS 10.1

Would love to have 2g or 3g options for battery preservation, especially in some of the areas I travel. Constantly trying to connect to LTE takes a toll.

    Here's AT&T :
