She was showing off the picture password feature and then realised she had forgotten her digit password...is there a solution to this ? I've read that the device will be wiped if she fails on last attempt...if so, will she then be able to start using the phone again (reset new password, etc.?)

Yes, the last failed password attempt will start a security wipe. It can take a while, but once complete it will be factory fresh. All apps, data, etc. on device (but not mSD card) will be gone. The device can then be set up from scratch. Make sure to tell her to sign on with her current BB ID, so any BB World purchases are available to her again.

If she made a backup recently, it can be restored, using BB Link.

Never done it with picture password but try logging into that blackberry app on the Web that tracks your phone ( for the life of me I can't remember then name now) change your password... then plug your phone into the computer and onto link and it should let you open the phone back up

Try this method, and get back to us. I think you can reset your password there first, and maybe then you can just sign in?

Let us know how it goes anyway.

After 5 attempts you will be asked to enter the word BlackBerry, then asked for your for your 4 digit pin.

is the 4 digit pin the same 4 digits used when opening your phone after it's been idling / sleeping for a period of time?

The secure nature of a BlackBerry is no joke. She will not have any data on the device after the 10th attended. Zilch,...Zero,...Nada,...Nothing.

Try this. Have her hold phone and intensely "stare" at the phone's keyboard, ....But Do Not Attempt to enter a password. Now, place the phone down and intentionally allow her mind to think of anything accept the password.

There us a chance that the correct password will come back to mind.

Yes. To avoid 10 failed picture password attempts, after the 5th you are asked to enter BlackBerry then your 4 digit pin. So don't forget your pin otherwise you are SOL and will have to wipe your phone.
