This is half of what is wrong with BlackBerry. The pathetic community who instead of offering solutions, remains in some sort of convoluted state of denial. Your platform is failing because of apps or lack thereof, but you ridicule people who tried the platform but didn't get the apps they needed? Show me another community that trolls their own in such a way. Especially when 99% of mobile users have come to agree.

Who remembers BlackBerry from back in the day? There were no apps, BlackBerry was purely about email, BBM and the ease of making calls.

I feel this new generation of 'people' are what is driving the need for apps. Seriously we don't need an app for everything you know!
Not all apps are unnecessary but when I'm scrolling through BlackBerry World and come across a QR code scanner (with 5 stars and 50 reviews all saying they have been looking for something like this) it has made me wonder and left me scratching my head. Another is a screenshot app some of which are paid apps at like $2.

You talking about legacy? Why would anyone need a screen shot app on BB10? Volume up+volume down.

Of course there are many bad apps that are never downloaded. I heard something like 70% of ios apps have never been downloaded. Don't quote me on that though, I'm going strictly off of memory of something I've heard in passing.

You forget that the device that people are explaining here runs those apps so smoothly - is continuously derided from the Android partisans and spec hounds for being "2 year old technology" even when it was released.

Strange how that now "2.75-year-old-technology" is running Android apps better than dedicated Android devices that are newer than that.

That said, there are certainly limitations in the BB10 Android runtime. But the fact it does what it does at all, is amazing and there is NO OTHER SMARTPHONE PLATFORM IN THE WORLD that has that dual-OS capability built-in.

No it isn't "better than any other Android device at being an Android". But the entire platform certainly is. There is really no dispute on that point.

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled flaming.
Where do find the schedule I need to set up my calendar.

    Please and thank you

That's when Google needs to be informed of anomalies and or errors. Like when they didn't know my entire apartment complex existed until I told them, or when they had my last address wrong (house numbers incorrect) or when a bridge that was closed for months due to flooding had been open for three weeks but they were detouring people 27 miles around it - in each case I clicked "report a problem" and in about a week they were corrected.

Oh, right that thing. The thing I keep trying to use that keeps NOT working because I'm told the streets running into and out of the property I'm developing are public when NO they are NOT and the Gates should be a hint as should the satellite imagery clearly show the "roads" don't even exist as Google claims they do. Really don't like the fact that Google is 100% wrong and still shows the helicopter landing area.

Look in BlackBerry World for Screen Snapp. Anyway Legacy devices from what I remember also used apps to get around that and so did older Android devices. Any modern smartphone will have a built in screenshot method yet there are screenshot apps in every store. Even iTunes from what I remember yet Home + Lock buttons do a screenshot and very few people know that.

... but before that, I remember folks saying it was crazy for people to want stuff as shocking as instant email.

Point being, the mobile space constantly evolves... so much so that while a laptop/desktop is still a need for me, it is not indispensable. I love that and apps help make that happen.

Beside Navi, you and I have been around long enough to remember when BB had more apps than iOS. These whippersnappers don't know that LOL.

Count me in! I discovered CB long before I joined; I had (still have) a Pearl 8130, and nearly a year after getting it I was directed by a CSR to come here for answers to questions. The frequency of visits turned to lurking for news, which led to joining, and viola - here we are.

and this here is just one problem that the general Blackberry user is going to encounter. **** that just don't work like it should, when (supposedly) BB10 can run Android apps. This is what annoys and turns people away from Blackberry, the limp-effort Android compatibility. People expect Android apps/games to work. The ability to run 'most' Android apps/games in a subpar effort doesn't really cut it. Either BB10 runs Android or it doesn't, period. People don't have the time or patience to play 'hit or miss' with compatibility. They'll just buy a true Android phone instead, and they won't really be lacking anything of substance compared to BB10.
Load software that you're not supposed to then complain that it doesn't work, mmmmmm. Anyways OP I'll up my price for that Z10, it's now JMD $1500 take it or leave it.
