check out that link.. maybe he's still got some Dev units to sell. Isn't this against BB's policies?

People are making fake eggs for human consumption.

    People are making fake iPhones.

People are even making whole fake Apple stores.

Why be surprised? Where a dollar is to be made there will be copycats.

yes, but in this case, these devices being sold are clearly labelled as Dev Alphas, with Dev Alpha BB10 OS. Chinese clones use sub-par hardware (usually Spreadtrum, Mediatek or Allwinner CPUs) and rarely support 3G on North American frequencies, nevermind 4G.

    Some technical info:

The website clearly lists the GSM channels supported.. which is only 2G. It also lists UMTS and WCDMA (which are different names for 3G). 3G requires 2 channels for data (one for upload - HSUPA, and one for download - HSDPA) so obviously there are at least 2 frequencies unlisted, because the 2100mhz that is listed would only be the voice channel. HSUPA and HSDPA taken together are known as HSPA. Anyhow, the unlisted channels are likely 850, 1700 and 1900, the same as listed in the Dev Alpha A specs.

If these are actual Dev Alpha units, that means DC-HSPA+ is also supported (dual channel HSPA (the + meaning the next evolution of UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA/3G), meaning 2 regular channels are doubled up, providing twice the bandwidth). HSPA+ is rightfully known as 4G these days because speeds can match LTE's speeds (but LTE can have far less latency, or ping). 4G doesn't exist on any Chinese clones.

Basically it is unlikely these are clones... which is fine with me.. hell, I sent the supplier a message asking for more details. I might pick one up! lol

It does list it as 'clone'.. but going by the details, and the picture.. they're selling Dev Alphas. True clones would look more like Z10's, not Dev Alphas, and it wouldn't explicitly list Blackberry OS 10 as the OS if this were not the case. It also indicates 'OEM' which I guess means this import/export shop is getting these directly from whatever company Blackberry contracted with to make these in the first place.

    Yes. I hear you Benny.
I just think no one cares about BlackBerry like we do.
It's easy to talk smack, write bad articles, start lawsuits, and steal ideas, Dev Alphas, or whatever.
Some like to kick you when you're down I guess.
