    That's what the grayed icon is for, just press and hold. You can also swipe down the keyboard with two fingers to make it go away or touch anywhere on the screen.

    I mean a tap does do the trick. But you need to tap off from the text entry box

    If you do a one finger swipe down from the text box, it also closes the keyboard. Alot easier to do one handed
