This may have already been posted or documented but I thought the only way to restart the Z10 (other than a battery pull) was to press both volume buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds.
It turns out that you can also restart the Z10 by holding down the lock button on the top of the phone for a few seconds and then tapping the restart icon.

That documented but I think holding down volume up and volume down restarts it too, that's how it was done on the PlayBook

I did this since day one. For me that's feb6. The volume button thing is new to me though,lol.
Also good to know. I always restart my PB from the touch screen.
It's kinda a "Soft Reset" or battery pull alternative for when your device is frozen or acting up and you can't get to the screen displayed in the screenshot above

Oh I've always done it this way. I didn't know about the vol buttons.
it works, but will do a screen capture first then reboot. :laughing:
Just to add... I was told if you hold down the top button at the same time as the Vol+ and Vol- keys, the phone will do a restart with a wipe. I have not tried this yet because I don't want to wipe my phone. It would be interesting to know if this is fact...
I always thought pressing and holding the lock button was THE way to restart the Z10 with a button. Volume rockers is new to me. Although I knew it worked for the Playbook.

Seems to me i've heard this too....kinda rings a bell. But like you....i don't wanna try it in case it's true,lol. Anybody know for sure?
I found it out the hard way.. i type with a death grip and gotta watch my fingers on the volume buttons. I do turn it off randomly sometimes, but I'm getting better.

This is not true. Before I figured out how to restart using the lock button at the top of the phone, I would restart by holding down both volume buttons. All it does is restart the phone.

IT DOESNT WIPE YOUR DEVICE. THEY WOULD MAKE IT SO EASY TO WIPE HENCE WHY YOU HAVE TO TYPE "Blackberry" BEFORE DOING A SECURITY WIPE.
If it did wipe my device, I would assume Netflix and Instagram wouldn't be sitting there after a restart?;)
