    Hey folks,

My z10 is supposed to turn off the display when I close the case but actually nothing is happening.. I tried it with a magnet and it only turns off the display if I put the magnet at left part of the back. Is my phone not working correctly or is it the case?
    (it's the official flip case?

There may be a setting for that - something to do with Holster???

Which case? Could the magnet have slipped out of position?

I checked the settings, everything is okay there. It's the official flip case from BlackBerry. And the problem is that I don't know where it is normally located

Check if there's a magnet on the flip cover by putting some metals on it.

The magnet is the one responsible for Sleeping your phone.

There is a magnet in it. It's located at the right side of the thing that you flip over the screen. ( left if you already flipped it over and look from above)

In the Phone app go to Settings/Holster.

The holster setting is activated and if I swipe a magnet at the back (left side)of my phone it does go to standby

I guess there could be two sensor locations.

I see BB Virtual Expert mentions the Holster Test but I don't see a way to actually force the test.

It says that the phone passed the holster test. But I can't test it manually

Have you tried probing around with a strong MAGNET to see if it triggers it. Have you check the case with a magnet to see if it is really there.

The sensor is in line with the hdmi and about 3/4 to an inch inward. I just triggered it using a magnet on my Z10.

The sensor is there, but it only triggers if I put the magnet on the back of the phone, not if I put it on the front. My case has a magnet, so that might not be the problem

At this point I don't know if the Z10 has two separate sensors or if there's only the one that works through the thickness of the phone????

I just was able to trigger the on/off using the magnet both in front (screen side) and the back of my Z10. The magnet I'm using to test is quite powerful.

My only suggestion at this point is to find another Z10 and test it against yours.

I have one of the flip cases from BlackBerry and the front is so loose it hardly ever turns the screen off.

To test it pull the cover over the screen and fold the cover back where it is creased, hold the other half firmly against the screen and as far to the right as it will go and the screen should go off.

The only thing this will prove is that everything is working, it won't get over the problem that the cover doesn't really work as a battery saving aid, I use mine purely to protect the screen.

    Hope this helps.

My phone triggers from both the front and back (just using a magnet) and -- no surprise -- when I slide it into the OEM leather pouch, screen facing either way, it triggers.

Seems it triggers on the front as well but not as easy as on the back, maybe I should send the case back and have it replaced

If you're looking for a case to put the phone to sleep while its in your pocket you need a different case, the belt clip one or holster type are the ones to go for.

I've got the Story Leather case for my Z10. It has a small magnet flap that keeps it securely closed so that a loose front stays in place. I don't think it is available anymore. And they never made one for the Z30.

I've got the Gmyle for the Z30 and it is a fabric case with, again, a magnetic latch. I think they have them for the z10.

That's the same as mine, it doesn't work for what you are looking for.
