You can do it in 10-15min. There are about 12 screws to remove (don't remember the exact number), you need 2 different sizes very tiny torx screwdrivers, plastic pry tool is good to have (screen is glued to the midframe), some connectors to unplug, one screen cable to route in midframe opening... there is a Z10 disassembling video on YouTube. You need some thermal compound to apply on SoC too, back side of the screen is the heatsink there.

If you never repaired any electronic devices before, better give it to someone else with more experience.

Thx, I'm asking for future reference if I ever have to do it; hopefully never. I still have tools from when I changed a 8310 screen a while back

No, I replaced 3 broken screens on Z10 phones. Middle frame is metal only inside, everything you see outside is plastic. Some screws go directly into the metal frame, some screws go into metal inserts in plastic part. You can tell if it's metal or plastic just by touching it. Also, you can use a sand paper to round the sharp edges under and above the screen and they will stay black. This is what teostar above did and this is what I did on one of the phones. No metal there, sorry.
Well it's actually a metal, with some kind of plastic paint/coating. It's a metal my friend. By touching, yeah, even I thought it was plastic, it's actually not. It just feels like plastic, that's all.

You can believe in whatever you want. I believe my eyes. Metal inserts in places where the screws go are visible on muddle frame pictures. Metal inserts in plastic.

You say, the interior is metal, cuz it's easily visibl, the metal color and the feel. But outside, you just say, cuz u felt it as plastic. I told you, I too thought it was plastic, but later only I came to know it's not plastic. It's just painted that way.

Again, you are free to believe in whatever you want. See the metal inserts where the screws go (circled)? There are around the metal part of the frame surrounding the screen only, everything else is molded plastic. And guess what - there is no electrical connection between any of them, as expected from plastic. So much for the painted metal theory.

X-Ray picture of Z10 shows very well what's metal and what's plastic. See the metal frame around the screen? See the plastic top and bottom ends? Any more questions?

Yes the top and bottom parts are every bit as metal as my plastic chair.

    They're not metal.

Now jevinzac is coming to explain that it's in fact made of unobtainium superconductor and it breaks exactly this way if you hit it hard enough on 30-degree angle.

Yeah just the bottom bezel. I saw on that X-ray image of Z10, only the top and bottom bezels are plastic, rest all is some kind of metal. So

Huh? Why is everybody talking about sand papers or what not. The whole bessel is so cheap. You can buy it at amazon or ebay. You can purchase it with a whole new display too. Just check amazon or ebay. And watch a youtube clip of how to remove the front bessel with display.
