I'd like to use BB10 Hub in order to have Facebook chats (messages) but find there is an acceptable delay. Anyone else seeing this? I am on the newest firmware from Bell (10.0.10.85)

Yes I was showing my Mother the other day (she doesn't even have a cel she's 80) and it took 30min for the msg to get to my phone.

We were in the Same room ;-) hahahaha

sadly i have the same problem...no message notifications in time....is there any fix? or do we need to wait for an update?

I have yet to have that issue. Everything is pretty much instantaneous from showing up in FB and coming to my phone.

I had noticed a delay when I first got the phone, ame with the email, but it seems to have balanced itself out now. All my notifications are instant. Try logging out and logging back into the app?

Nope, I rarely open my Facebook app. Pretty much everything I need happens in the hub.

I have problems where I cannot send from the hub sometimes and don't receive messages in the app. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't.
I think it is on Facebook's end as I get delays on skype, trillian, windows messenger etc. I know others who have the same or similar problems.

okay so maybe one of the next updates will fix the problems. same with the new whatsapp. no notifications without delays. i even have to look for app updates in bbw myself...hopefully this will change in the future...

nevertheless, i LOVE my z10. switching from iOS to bb10 was a good decision.

I get notifications instantly for likes, tagging etc, except for messages... it takes ages to receive...

it's really hit or miss with mine, I usually get the regular notifications from FB at 15 minute intervals, and sometimes I get direct messages instantly and I can respond, other times I don't get the message until the next interval check, and then when I go to answer it through the hub my messages don't send. Dunno what's up with it. I'm sure they just need to patch it up on the app side.

I do get more notifications with the Z10 than I did with my iPhone, which I enjoy. I hated having to constantly check my fb app to see if I actually got notifications or not. The Z10 shows me absolutely ALL my notifications which is awesome.

Workaround
If you have Hub++ or Color LED you can setup a filter and a second email address.

Open an email account using a service that uses PUSH notifications like gMail

Setup Facebook to send your notifications to that address

Setup a filter to monitor / alert the account for the word "message"

Optional: You can also set the filter actions to mark the message as read so it doesn't show up in swipe up notifications.

Optional: You can configure the hub not to include messages from that account so you don't have to see them.

When you receive a new message you'll get an alert as long as the monitoring app is active.
