Today I noticed that my external speaker isn't working for some reason. It also isn't making any clicking sounds at all. I have checked the volume on the keyboard and the main volume. What else can it be? People can hear me on the ext speaker but I can't hear anything at all.
    Thanks

Sorry, it's a Z10. I did reboot it but it didn't help. I've checked all the volume controls that I know about.

Ok, moved you to the Z10 section, which version of the z10 is it (STL 1/2/3/4), is it new? Is it still under warranty, as if it's not fixed with a reload, then more than likely it is hardware related.

Try squeezing the phone around the battery area.

Slap it hard on the back where the speaker is. Check the forums about this problem I went into a bit more details there helping out. On some z10 the speaker gets disconnected and a slap on the back will pop it back it. I had this problem, my friends z10 as well.
    Happy slapping!

I mean, turn it over so the screen faces down, then slap on the backside where the speaker is.

    As suggested, run bbve

Download Blackberry Virtual Expert (it may be included in newer versions of the OS). It contains a series of tests.

If all else fails and you don't want to bother with getting it fixed. The BlackBerry bluetooth Mini Stereo Speaker is a great accessory.

Just press hard below the battery and it will work, poor build quality.

Had this issue previously - there was some fluff in the headphone jack.

I had the same problem and this solution worked for me. It has only recurred once.

Whoops, sorry completely missed this thread. I just posted exactly the same issue. Bottom line, dust in the headphone jack. Just blow into the jack and connect/disconnect the headphones a few times.

Sorry, should elaborate. When you insert the headphones, the phone detect this and disconnects the speaker. Normally, it is simply two contacts which are forced apart with the headphone connector. If dust (or more accurately fluff) gets between the contacts, the phone will think the headphones are still in. By inserting/removing the headphones, you dislodge the dust, which you can then blow away.

I think he's talking about the speaker phone, not the headphone. But I can see where the problem could show up if the headphone had been used prior.
