Enabling mobile network on Z10 disables internet but wifi is still connected
Hello all,
This, I imagine, is going to be a new one for everyone. I recently switched to rogers (2 Z10's) and things have been fine until today. Here is the problem...
When I came home today I got a notification that there was limited internet connectivity even though wifi was connected. I assumed it was the modem, so I power cycled it. No change. Then I power cycled the router. No Change. I checked my laptop and desktop, both were connected to the internet and running fine. I then pulled the battery and sim on my phone. No change. As most of you know, when you connect to wifi your 4G symbol disappears and is replace with a wifi signal meter. It didn't tonight, so I thought I'd try disabling the cell radio and see what happens. Guess what, internet connection starts working just like it should. I turn back on the cell radio and internet is lost again. I then checked my wife's phone and of course it had the exact same problem.
Now a reasonable person would deduce that a problem which didn't exist yesterday, and suddenly appeared on 2 different phones, has been caused by the network. Rogers seems to disagree. I spent 45 min on the phone with a network 'specialist' and did all the normal resetting and rebooting with no success. I was then told I have to pay for some 'tech specialist' service because my device is the problem. Even though I told this person numerous times that the problem is happening on 2 phones they still gave me the same line. I also waited for 15 min to talk to a supervisor just to have the same person come back and tell me that THEY spoke to the supervisor who advised the same fee based service.
I know this has turned into somewhat of a rant, but I would still like to hear from anyone with insight into this issue. If this can't be fixed it's 'bye bye' rogers.
Mungee.
