If I try adding a picture to someone's contact info it takes me to edit the picture. While in edit screen It barely allows you to set whole picture as the picture. It brings up a square that doesn't stretch over picture. Why did BlackBerry do this??

I'm not sure about the device, but depending on your email provided, I'd do it online. I did it this way for my GMail account (Exchange) and my Office 365 account (Exchange).

Just seems easier to me. I like all my Contacts to have avatars.

Yea unfortunately I use a simple yahoo account. My only issue is not being able to zoom out and choose the whole picture. A simple pic like the DC car audio pic above shouldn't be an issue to select the whole picture

Maybe get images that are avatar sizes, like 90 x 100 or 120 x 120 that sort of size, and see if that helps...
